18's on a stock pony?

this may be in the wrogn section but since my pony is a v6 i thought this sould go here...ok so im looking at getting 18's on my stock pony, will they fit without the tires rubbing? i believe the tires i am getting are low-profile tires (not sure wut brand, getitng them for free form my aunt who does auto leasing/sales) so will the 18's fit with lo-profile tires on my stock pony without rubbing? and how much of an effect will the chrome rims have on performance of my car? thanks for the help guys...

make sure they are no taller than 35 series - they should fit. Mine fit and my car is lowered 2". You should have no problems.

no bigger than 35 series...

ok u said no bigger than 35 series...what exactly are 35 series? srry, total tire noob here...

EDIT: decided not to go with 18's the rims wil weigh too much, killing my gas milage, and i just dont have the money to spend on gas...mite go with 17's though if i can find the ones i want...thanks anyway, if a mod could please delete this thread, that'd be great...thanks for the help

Ok you can fit 20's on a lowered mustang...Ive seen it and there is a company that will back it up.. If anyone else reads this..they will know..

wut!?!?

no way...20's? those r huge...damn that's massive...ehh i decided not to get rims, at least not now, i've really gotta save the money for college in a year...i know if i get rims,(or anything for my car at all) i'll need the money later on...that's just how my luck goes...

That number is the "profile" of the tire. For example: 265/35ZR 18

It means, if I understand things correctly, that the tire is 35% as tall (from the rim) as the tire is wide. In this example, the tire is 265mm wide. So, the wider you go with the tire, the lower the profile needs to be in order to clear everything and to keep similar ratios.

k cool

k i think i get it now...thnx

If you are tight on cash dont get 18 as the tires are expensive stick with 17 inch rims.

Phantom1313 04-20-2005 09:06 PM

ya

yeah, i almost learned that lesson the hard way...plus they kinda kill ur gas mileage dont they (the 18's i mean) since they r bigger and heavier than stock 16's or even after market 17's? im thinkin i may just get my stock 16's chromed...i kinda like them, and since it's cheaper to get them chromed i may just do that, plsu i will already have tires...tis of course is all down the road once i have a steady enough income to play with money...
