aftermarket beast

I have a 2003 v6 mustang that I want to make in to a cobra. Is this going to be a waist of money? well these are some of the things I want to do. gt engine, supercharge,(350hp-375hp to the wheels) octane black widow body kit and hood with carbon fiber insert, 19" painted rims (gray or bronze), lower front 2" and 1.8" in back smoked headlights with clear coners, red and black two-tone leather cobra seats and cover for back seats. I don't know if there is an afrtemarket center console because the one in the car sucks. Does anyone know if there is such a thing as and aftermarket center console let me know. The last thing that I want to do would be change from a v6 auto to a gt manual.

That would be a lot of work to make the transformation. If it was me, I would look for a GT or a Cobra to modify.

You will be saving alot of $$, headaches and time if you got a Gt or Cobra unless the car has sentimental value to you.

Yeah that is true venom, but im thinking about doing the same to my V6. The only reason i did not get a gt or cobra when i got my car is because of the insurance. I am only 17 right now and i am paying 180 for my insurance, any higher and I will be in debt due to my car payment and phone bill. But maggpi717 if you drop a gt or cobra engine down into it, might aswell pay acouple grand more to have the transmission included, so that way you'll have it right off hand and not have to worry about it later, because you may not have the money in the end to get it switched. My cousin is getting me a magazine that sells engines w/transmission included on it, he says its cheaper than most engines alone. So when i get the magazine i'll post the site.

If you get into an accident or theft the insurance company might not cover it or might void your policy as you have an enigine that was not in the policy.

Hybrid02 03-30-2005 05:35 PM

Yeah, I have the same problem you do. I'm 18 and have a V6 and I didn't get a gt or cobra because of insurance prices...in fact, I don't think anyone would even insure for it at all. Venom is right though, if you actually get into an accedent the insurance company will void your insurance and you'll be paying for nothing. Basically I've realized it's a lose-lose situation until we're about 25 and the insurance significantly drops (assuming you got a pretty clear driving record). I think it might actually be a better idea to buy a gt or cobra and get insurance that would actually apply. That's just what I think though.

what if

well are there any mods for the v6 like chips or superchargers that could make simular power changes. what about the center console can that be changed does anyone know.

04DarkShadowGT 03-31-2005 05:57 AM

No offense but if your struggling to make your bills as is and cant afford the extra insurance of a GT, you probbaly shouldnt be modifying your car. Especially to the extent of a supercharger or engine swap.

Wait till your out of school, get a job, save a little and buy the car you want.

maggpi717 03-31-2005 07:35 AM

no no no wait you think I poor? that is not the case. the v6 mustang is my first car my mom baught it for me when I graduated high school. so I haven't put any money into it and I just thought that would be cool to beef-up thats all. It wont be a daily driver when I done with it. I will have a nex 2005 xtera which I will be buying in the next month, so money isn't a problem. I also want a 1968 fastback mustang does anyone know the specs on it? So when I'm an adult in my 30's I hope to have 3 mustangs ( plus my uncles boss 302) and a xtera.

04DarkShadowGT 03-31-2005 11:26 AM

Dont buy an Xterra those are fugly. Just sell the V6 and take the $$ you were gonna spend on the Xterra and buy a GT, Mach, or Cobra.

73coupe99v6 03-31-2005 11:32 AM

oh no none taken, i know. I am gonna wait, i am just doing small little things that i can afford, like a short throw shifter and some underdrive pulleys, this summer shen i am gonna be working close to full time is when i am gonna work on my mustang and when i get these bonds cashed that i have in the bank.

redfire04 03-31-2005 12:29 PM

you shouldn't have to wait until your 25 to get a decent insurance rate.
i'm only 21 and my insurance on a 04 GT is $140 a month. To me this is high but jeez not $180 a month for a v6. thats F***in nuts!

I had a focus previously and it was $100 a month both are full coverage with $250 comprehensive deductible and $500 collision.

all you need to do is pick and stay with an insurance company, and keep your record clean.

maggpi717 03-31-2005 12:46 PM

I want to keep my v6 forever because I love it. I'm a nature girl and like to go off roading and you can't do that in a mustang. that is why I want an xtera it is one of the best in its class. not fugly I don't know what suv you are looking at, but your welcome to your own opinion.I guess (just kidding)

Hybrid02 03-31-2005 09:47 PM

My insurance is crazy...but I don't exactly have a clean record so I already ****ed up. :sad11:
