Hey guys. I just bought an 05 V6 Mustang. It's screaming yellow with black stripes and came with a true dual flowmaster exhaust already installed.
What I want to do now is put in a better air intake, but have noticed several of them require that you re-flash the car's computer to adjust the air/fuel mixture. So, that's 200 on the intake plus another 200 for the "tuner"... Is there an easier way? Also, have any of you had any experience with the JET plug-in module. It plugs into the car between the computer and the wiring harness..... Any other suggestions would be appreciated. P.S. I love that freakin' car!!! |

welcome to the site
but a trip, stay far-far away from Jet chips, total junk. if you want to make some more HP outta' your V6, see Justin at www.vmptuning.com, as he is one of the best around and has one of the fastest V6 Mustangs in the country and is a SCT tunner taught by the master Chris Johnson himself:clap:

wow buddy..i wouldnt go to that excessive speed on a stock car...especially the stock tires...they are only rated to like 100mph so i would get some new tires that are z rated for 150mph so u dont blow a tire and end up in a ditch

OK here's the site with the intakes :
http://www.v6mustangstuff.com/05AirFuel.htm Let me know if you all have tried, or recommend, any of these. I'm more interested in the ones that don't require a reflash of the motor. Or, maybe I should drop a K&N into my stock box and spend the cash on something else. Any suggestions would be great. |

I'm blowing off the CAI for now. What I think I'll do first is get gears and T-Lok.
3.73 or 4.10? What are the pro's and con's for each? Also, I'm not a mechanic so I'll have to get someone to install these. Will the ford dealer do it or should I look for someone else? Thanks for all the great info... |

Thanks, I think Ill go with the 3.73's. This is my everyday car and I drive 80 mile round trip to/from work so there are a lot of highway miles there. 3.73's might be better for me.
I'm going to have the T-Lok done at the same time....can't wait  |

while doing some reading here on gears, I came across the gear calc. According to the calculations I am already running 3.73 gears.
I guess this IS possible since it already had the flowmaster dual exhaust. I better see what else has been done before I go spending a lot of coin... I thought it felt fast for a sixer.....lol |

OK, I installed an AFE CAI last weekend. It was easy and didn't require a reflash (it uses the stock intake tube). Just had to transfer the MAF, install the heat shield and then the filter assembly.
It might have a LITTLE more power, but what is really noticeable is the exhaust sound. It sounds much better. I'm running a true dual, no cross-over with flowmaster 40's. The drone at highway speeds is much less and a deeper "growl" in city driving conditions. So as it sits now it has the dual exhaust, CAI, 3.73 gears and a TB spacer that is scheduled to be installed this weekend. What's next? UDP, T-Lok, SCT x cal II tune.... Actually, I better get out and burn the tire(s) to see if I already have posi trac. You never know when you buy a used stang that already has been modded to some extent.... Any suggestions would be great ![]()

Mine came with BFGoodrich Traction T/A on it. That's next on my list of things to replace.
