New wheels coming soon!

Yeah yeah yeah i know i know, i up n disappeared. But i've had alot going on. I lost my mom to lung cancer on april 19th, and i've been tryin to get back to some degree of normal for a while now. Anyhow, the Bullitt is once again in need of tires (imagine that!) so i figured why not get wheels too while i'm at it, and i can't decide if i wanna just go with 17x9/17x10.5 bullitts or if i want FR500's. :( And then! if i go with the FR500's, which color/size. So... how bout some input ya'll?

krazypony 05-27-2011 06:23 AM

If I were to do it all over again, I would have gotten the Anthercite

cr4sh_0v3rl0ad 05-27-2011 11:22 AM

I was leaning towards the black chrome fr's but they only come in 18's n i think i wanna stick with 17's for the wider rear tire.

Steeda97 05-27-2011 12:11 PM

Chrome 18" Saleens!

08mustang_gt 05-27-2011 02:29 PM

Wider? You mean taller.

As for that, your car doesn't really need a taller tire on the rear. If you get a good set of tires (ie. not Sumihomos) then they will hook even with 18s.

I voted for black chrome. It looks sick on that green.

cr4sh_0v3rl0ad 05-27-2011 02:55 PM

So r the 18x10's as wide as the 17x10.5's? And does it matter that my car is lowered? I don't wanna run into any rubbing issues. I realllllllllllly like the black chrome 18's I just was leaning away from them cuz I thought they aren't as wide.

whitestang04 05-27-2011 05:18 PM

I wouldn't go with black wheels on DHG. I don't know if it's your daily driver or not but I have heard the black chrome starts to flake off. I voted Anthracite Bullitts but Anthracite FR500's would be a close second.

cr4sh_0v3rl0ad 05-27-2011 07:20 PM

So are the 18x10's as wide/wider than the 17x10.5's??

stanger00 05-27-2011 07:48 PM

You can run a 305 tire and it will be more then enough rubber for your car.

cr4sh_0v3rl0ad 05-27-2011 08:13 PM

With my car being lowered will I have rubbing issues with 18's?

whitestang04 05-27-2011 08:53 PM

If you roll your fenders you won't have to worry about rubbing with any of the wheels you've talked about. If you don't roll them it may be close. I had a VERY minor issue with my 315's and lowering springs but I only partially rolled the fenders and I'm good now.

cr4sh_0v3rl0ad 05-27-2011 09:18 PM

Well suminuvabitch! I just went to order f*ckin' wheels and every 18" FR500 staggered set is out of stock! WTF! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!

Man that sucks. Wht color did you decide on? :D

cr4sh_0v3rl0ad 05-28-2011 07:10 AM

I was gonna get 18" anthracite fr500's

cr4sh_0v3rl0ad 05-29-2011 06:57 PM

Ahhhhh hell with it. I'm just too damn impatient to wait for the 18's to come back in stock. I ordered 17x10.5 bullitts for the back. I'll get the fronts when its time for tires up there! :) Went ahead n ordered the Roush Stage 3 body kit with exhaust kit, and a Mach 1 CDC shaker hood kit as well. And the whole car is gonna get a bright shiny new coat of paint! :D Yay me

whitestang04 05-29-2011 07:23 PM

Wow, That's going to be a pretty big transformation. I look forward to the after shots.

cr4sh_0v3rl0ad 05-29-2011 07:43 PM

Yeah well... I've always liked the Roush Stage 3's. Its just a bad ass look with the side exhaust n front fascia. And I've been battling back and forth over a couple different hoods for a while, and it just hit me... why not a shaker hood? Its clean, functional, bad ass yet not overstated. As for the wheels... well, that flat came down to pure impatience. lol It's prolly gonna take a couple weeks to a month to get it all done n did but no doubt, there will be pics for proof as soon as it all comes together. I think its gonna be a mean look for the Bullitt. :) At least i hope anyhow, cuz i just spent a damn FORTUNE! LMAO!

krazypony 06-01-2011 09:08 AM

somebody must have hit the GA lottery or had a nice inheritance ( and sorry about your mom passing, my condolences ).

I sure didn't hit the lottery, and the money i am getting came at a huge cost which i'd give it all back to have my mom still here. And thanks cousin. I am thankful she went quickly without a long drawn out painful fight. :)

bigkeeko 06-01-2011 02:39 PM

Sorry to hear aboot yer ma pal.

Black 500s. My tuppence worth of duff Scottish info.
Anthracite is cool too mind.

08mustang_gt 06-01-2011 02:55 PM

Sorry to hear about your mom. Been there before myself.

But I do have to LOL at all of the votes being even....

cr4sh_0v3rl0ad 06-01-2011 03:22 PM

LOL yeah i saw that. But i guess ultimately it didn't matter cuz all the 18's were outta stock so i just ordered the 17x10.5's with new rubber. And thanks :)

What do YOU think?

cr4sh_0v3rl0ad 06-09-2011 12:14 PM

I think i need some 17x9's for the front now! LMAO I love em. They're huge! :D

bigkeeko 06-09-2011 12:17 PM

Thats all that matters then.

Big they are but your poll never had much in the way of Bullitts in it

What I`m saying is I thought it was a FR500 winner :)

In saying that, its a safe bet :smokin:

cr4sh_0v3rl0ad 06-09-2011 12:21 PM

Well... i WOULDA got FR500's but every set of 18's was sold out, so i just stuck with the Bullitts n went wider. :D

TUFF 4.6 06-09-2011 12:49 PM

Hell, I like um. I always thought that the stock wheels weren't bad, just needed to be wider. Now tape off the fronts and remove the clearcoat from the lips and polish them up and you got something! I wouldn't put 9's on the front I would leave them as is. Just clean everything up and paint all the brake parts.

Those big ol meats on the back are going to look good with the body kit! I like the stance now.

cr4sh_0v3rl0ad 06-09-2011 12:55 PM

Eh thats too much work tho Bubba! lol i just came in from cleaning up the fronts. I'm still a ways away from needing fronts so ill decide new wheels up there or not when the time comes. But yeah i'm happy as shit with the stance now. Plus it looks like it put the ass end up in the air a bit which will give me plenty of clearance for them new side pipes ;) As for the calipers, yeah they need painting badly. I might see what the shop will charge to hit em while they got it.

whitestang04 06-09-2011 03:43 PM

They look great. How well does the finish match the stock fronts? It's hard to tell in the pics.

cr4sh_0v3rl0ad 06-09-2011 05:48 PM

Eh the AM ones are a bit lighter but its pretty close

Ironwarrior 01-22-2012 03:16 PM

CR4.
Sorry about your mother, I had to go through the same myself.
I think you made the better choice, on your wheels
They look sick. For some reason I have always been drawn to those silver bullitts.
I am just ready to get a new set for my 2000 white mustang and am trying to decide between
these...

Anthracites
http://www.americanmuscle.com/anthra...itto-stag.html

Or these
Hypercoated
http://www.americanmuscle.com/hyper-...itto-stag.html

I kind of like the lighter silver look. I'm not sure which one would be lighter color.
I think the hypercoated ones are a bit lighter though. Anyone out there know the differences?

cr4sh_0v3rl0ad 01-23-2012 08:12 AM

Thanks Iron. Yeah i was happy with my decision on the wheels. As to which ones are lighter in color, the anthracite wheels from AM are lighter in color than a factory anthracite wheel, and the hypercoated ones are a shade or two lighter than the anthracite wheels. Hope you can make sense out of that lol

Ironwarrior 01-23-2012 12:41 PM

Hey CR4,
Yeah, thanks makes total sense.
I think you really helped a lot. It's hard by looking at photos what a wheel will really look like on your car. Especially when usually you can't find a car that is the same color or looks like yours. I always hope to see someone with similar wheels on the street, but never seem to do that. Now the 2000 mustangs are getting more scarse than they used to making it even harder to see them.

Anyway once again I think the old bullitts are a great looking wheel. Some say that they are to common, but that is why they are common cause they are awsome looking wheels and many like them. I am old school and always loved them.. No matter which color you choose I think they are great. Wish you all the best with your car... keep the mods flowing :)
