Serious balance issue
 

On my driver side, front tire, the outer tread of the tire is completely bald. I swapped the tires out with the passenger side rear tire, but its only to stop me worrying about a blow out for the time. I know ineed to have the car rebalanced, but im doing lowering springs this weekend or very soon. Should i rebalance the car ASAP or would i have to after i did the springs? Info appreciated.

Also it vibrates like a son of a bitch at 70. More than normal vibration.

Ok...you likely have a few issues here. The vibration is caused by a tire out of balanced most likely. The wear is from a bad alignment. You need to have it fixed, but I would wait until you add the springs. You will have to have it aligned anyway and probably then again after the car settles, unless, your alignment person really knows what they are doing. Either way, it will either wear worse after the modification or wear worse later depending on what specs the car is aligned to. As the springs settle, the alignment will change.

K, so i need to get it aligned immediately after i put the springs in, and then about how long after the springs are in should i go in after for the second align?

Others here are smarter then me on this....but I would think about 6 months. It partially depends on how much change you make with the springs. Any car needs to be aligned from time to time anyway.

Are you doing the springs yourself?

When I added springs, I had the car aligned and my front tires were shot 12 months later. Now, after almost 5 years, I still have the same set of tires.

Yes im doing the springs myself. Alright, what would be a good example of a place that does car alignments and GOOD tire balancing. Discount tire store near me is awfull..

Really any tire shop should be able to balance tires and do an alignment...including places like Firestone etc... If you have a local speed shop that would be a better pp;ace, but you will pay a lot more. You may even have a good mom and pop shop, but quality will vary lot....depends on the shop.

If your keeping that bald tire for a while, get it balanced. Get your car aligned a couple of days after adding the springs. Your supposed to get your car aligned every six months anyway. Unless you get it aligned incorectly the first time or the car just really doesn't settle in thoes couple of days, you shouldn't need another alignment after the first initial alignment.

K, cool. Ill prboably be doing the springs this weekend, get new tires asap then align, or align then tires. Any good shops you guys would recomend that do a nice job?
