Rim/Tire Size Combo

I'm looking to get these for my 2004 GT. However I think staggering looks really nice but I'm not sure what sizes to get. 2 of my tires are new, 245/45 stock size. I want to keep those to save cost and put them up front on a 17x8. What wheel/tire size should I get for the back for the staggered look?

you gonna wanna get 17x9x10.5 rims out back and you will want 315/35's

Eventually you will want to up your tires up front to a 255' to fill the gap up a bit more, thats what I had done just last year.

there is no such thing as a 17x9x10.5 rim. typo Im sure.

to the OP:

17x10.5 rear rims with 315/35/17 tires

17x9 front rims with 275/40/17 tires

or you could just get the wider rears, but the rim color will not match the front factory rims.

he said he was looking to buy black bullitts in 17x8 for the front. He's not just buying rears.

Rigor -
You could do this to be able to utilize your new 245/45's...
17x8's up front with your 245/45's
17x10.5's in the rear with 315/35's

yep... covered that with the "just rear" but the color wont match....meaning the black rims he gets for the rear might not match the black he paints his stock front rims with.

Unless I'm misreading or misunderstanding his original post he never said he was going to paint his stock rims. He also never said he had bullitts as stock rims. He posted a link to 17x8 black bullitts on AM that he was interested in but also said he may want to do the staggered look.

So he can buy (2) 17x8 and (2) 17x10.5's and keep his 245/45's that he says he already has.

krazypony 01-30-2010 11:41 AM

well in most cases after market rims are 17x9 and not 17x8 and his stock tires will fit these rims and there will only be a slight gap to the edge of the rim. That would be why I up'd my tire size to 255's instead of 245's and not 275's as most for the front due to the pull of road curves and worry about fender well rubbing if any.

so you will find most after market rims in 17" will be a 17x9 and then for the rear for DD you will want 17x10.5 with the tire sizes that zig posted above!

an 04 GT came with bullits 9/10 times...or more.

He could paint his stock front rims black, and buy 2 rear 10.5 black bullits and be good to go...and save $.

True if that's the case. He could also buy these black 17x8s, sell his stock rims and have all new wheels. If the stock rims aren't in too bad of shape he could sell them and end up ahead on the deal.
