Best Tire Brand???

So I've been in the market for some wheels and tires lately. The wheels I've decided on and now I'm to the tires....and stuck.

So basically I'm looking for the best tire for street and track use that I can get.

The wheels are 20x9. So I've decided on 275/35s and maybe 275/40s if need be. I live in MO so we do get a bit of rain, although I don't plan on needing it during the snow since I'll be home all winter. I do push the limits of my tires, whether it be on back roads or the track. I want them to wear better than the BFG KDWS that I have now since they only lasted me 15k miles. Or at least as well.

I know all of you guys have had way more experience with tires than I have so I was just looking for some help.

Tire choice is like asking what catback is the best. Your gonna get different answers from everyone.

I have had great luck with Cooper and Kuhmo and Falken thus far. I will be going back to Kuhmo again on my next set. They are cheaper then most and are a great tire.

If you were happy with the BGF KDWS's then maybe stick with those. Either way, I don't really think any performance tire is going to last much longer especially if you are hard on the tires. I figure if the sumi's on the rear of my car only last a year then thats really on a little over $200 a year I have to spend on them and they do their job. I've used the BGF G-Force sports and have liked them. It's kinda hard to find a tire off someone's opinion though cause everyone is different. It sucks that you can't test them out, haha.

The guy I work with keeps saying NT555s, but they're like $250 a piece. Whereas the Kuhmo Ecsta SPTs are only $200. Would they be just as good, or close enough?

And I know exactly what you mean 00blkstang, I wish there was like a 30-day free trial or something. We've had BFG g-force sports on the Cobra and liked them. I believe that is what's on there now. They grab pretty well for a 500+ hp car. But, the g-force don't come in that size. At least on tire rack they don't.

The Nitto's and Kuhmo's both have a treadwear of 300 so I figure they'll last a pretty good while. It's just a matter of quality and price.

Might want to check out the new NT05 from Nitto although it might cost a bit more for the size you need.

I'd love a set of NT05s, but I have no justification. If it was on the Cobra yes, but not on the GT. A lower UTQG rating would be the main reason. They traction would be great, but not needed for a mild horsepower car that's a DD.

" I do push the limits of my tires, whether it be on back roads or the track. " I saw this and thought you might like the extra traction, especially the wet traction since our cars tend to be prone to fishtailing.

I plan on getting a set once I manage to get the staggered wheel set I've had my eye on for a while.

I have the Kuhmo SPT's on my car right now. They handle the rain very well and have lasted a long time which with my driving style is amazing. They are the longest lasting set of tires I have ever had on this car. I just wanna try something new now. I'm looking at General tires right now. They have a good rep and high treadwear rating. I don't see myself ever getting Nitto street tires. They just cost to damn much.

I like General tires, but I'm also factoring looks into this as well. The sidewalls on the General UHPs look like mud tires, and if I'm spending $1000+ on wheels and tires I want it to look good at least. I know Nittos are expensive, but I just found a deal on a set of four for about $800 which is what I was going to pay for the Kuhmos....

NT05s would not do anything for me as I'm not running more than 400hp. And from what I've heard from other guys it's like putting drag slicks on a scooter. I don't need them. NT555s would give sufficient enough traction. I don't need a near DOT legal road course tire.

Thanks for the input guys.
