sumitomo htr z III

never heard anything on here about that tire, anybody have any feedback about them?

They are a pretty new tire. I have read all the reviews on them that the TireRack.com has and pretty much everyone is happy with them. I am pretty sure I will be picking up a set soon as new tires. They are pretty inexpensive also.

Steeda97 03-09-2008 08:26 PM

Yeah they are inexpensive. Thinking of picking them up along with a new set of wheels just to change it up a bit. lol.

What kind of wheels are you thinking about getting? I am getting the 18x10 rims for the rear when I get these tires. I really should buy some Kumho v710s for autocross but then I would have to buy another set of rims and three sets of rims is too much.

Haha dont let PCola see this but I think maybe some black FR500's. deep dish out back. hahahahaha. Its just something ive been thinking about.

Yeah 295 is the widest I have seen so far, which is fine for me since I am going with 10" rears, but not good for the 17x10.5 guys.

96gtstang 03-10-2008 07:32 AM

alright, i think im going to get those then. now i know some of the sumitomo styles dont look like they fill the rim all the way because they dont have the rim gaurd does anyone know if these do have the rim gaurd on them?

01FR500 03-10-2008 08:23 AM

I haven't read anything that says they do, so I don't think they do. It is usually advertised when they have a "rim gaurd". I don't think rim gaurds even work, if run the side of your rim into a curb, a little bit of rubber sticking out ins't going to keep your car from scratching up your rims. Just be careful when close to curbs, now that works, haha.

96gtstang 03-10-2008 08:43 AM

i wasnt exactly concerned about hitting a damn curb- ive neva hit one yet i believe it was Pcola who bought new rims and said the tires looked to small for the wheel but the tires infact were big enough just the style tire he bought diddnt have the rim protector or guard whatever it is- im not a believer in those things working either. I have had tires with them and without them the rim looks more full with it for sure.

I just bought a set of these tires so I will let everyone know what I think of them after a while. I won't be able to have them mounted this my spring break which is the lat week in March.

I had them on the back of the supra before I started making a lot of power(was at about 450ish to the tires then) and seemed to hook just as well as any other standard radial. However, I had 315/35/17's so they do make them
