Default Goodyear F1 All Season

I'm looking into the 'new' Goodyear F1 All Season tires. 275/40/17.

They got some kind of carbon fiber reinforced side walls. This seems kinda practical for me since I drive my car year round. Think they are worth it? They are ZR rated. Tirerack has them for 166 a tire.

Thoughts?

ZR rating means they are not all season tires IMO.

When I was doing a tire search a couple of weeks ago, I found the same thing and became very interested. For my DD, I plan on getting them as the current tires wear out.

Isn't the rating just what its approved for, speed wise? And goodyeareagle.com considers them ZR.

But anyways. Check this shi out.
Two Carbon Fiber reinforced sidewalls help keep the shoulders on the road for crisp responsiveness and maneuverability.

TredLock™ Technology with patented interlocking micro grooves helps provide biting edges for excellent all-season traction and lock together for enhanced grip in turns.

PermaBlack™ Helps maintain new-tire appearance throughout the life of the tire.

Rim Protector Helps protect against wheel damage from accidental contact with curbs.

Those last two are the ones that sold it for me.

i have these tires on my subaru. the perma black is cool looks like they have a slight shine all the time. they grip a whole lot better than the potenza's that were on the car before. these goodyear F1 all seasons were made to compete with the michelin all seasons. i bought these before tirerack even put out their own road test. they may be all seasons but the compound is still pretty soft. i did a couple auto-x events and the tires got ate up pretty fast. these tires are real predictable though. i was drivin in rain at 90-100 miles per hour and didnt feel any pulling or sliding on bends while on the bahn.

I'll be making the purchase on these tires, even though they are pretty expensive. How long do they typically last?

Got these put on the front yesterday. I gotta say, for an all/season type of tire, they look good. The Goodyear tire center did have a little trouble getting them balanced though. I don't think it was because of the tires. I got there at 9 am and was out the door at 10:30. Pulled out of the parking lot and the front end was vibrating like crazy, did a u turn in the street and had them pull them off and rebalanced. Pulled out a second time, same thing, less vibration. Another u-turn, they didn't believe me this time. At first, they seemed pretty pissed, but I paid $488 for 2 new tires balanced and mounted, so I had the mgr take the car for a quick spin. He got back, pulled them off and rebalanced them again. Third time was a charm, pulled out, the car felt very solid, got onto the I40 on ramp, punched it to 120 and it was smooth as glass. Went for a 80 mile cruise, found some mild twisties and I'll tell ya, the felt alot better than the 255/45R17 KDW2s that were on before, I certainly noticed a difference. I'll get some pics when I have a chance, I ended up going with 275/40ZR17s.

P.S. I finally got out of the Goodyear tire center around 2 in the afternoon...

I went with 4 275/40ZR/17's. They are great. They also look good for an all-season tire. They handle so much better than my previous tire. They were 245's on a 9" rim. haha.

I'll try and get pictures too.
