Hey guys, I recently purchased a 2003 Mach 1 and am looking to put on some new shoes. The Mach 1 rims just dont do it for me.
I'd just like some opinions on this setup. All 4 (obviously) Chrome Bullitts from American Muscle 17x9 fronts Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z Tire (275/40-17) 17x10.5 DD rears Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z Tires (315/35-17) Does this sound like a good setup? Tire sizes sound ok and wont rub the fenders? Please post your opinions! Thanks for your time... |

Those are the sizes and tires I run and there is no rubbing and it looks great IMO.

Sumitomo HTR Z's are junk. The HTR Z II's are better, but they don't have them sizes in the II's. I had that exact setup on my 17's with 315's and 275's. I only have a 250hp car and those tires won't hook for crap. They don't have rim guard either, so your rim sticks out a little from the tire. Just my opionion though, I'm sure others feel differently.

to say they are junk is just plain wrong. name another tire in those sizes you can get for the price...there isn't one. other tires in those sizes start at $100 more per tire and just go up and up from there. they hook fine for me as a DD. can't beat the HTR-Z for looks and price. HTRZ-II's wavy tread pattern look stupid IMO. take a look at a Dunlop SP Sport 8080E...wonder if the Sumi's are made in the same place. just so you know the Dunlop 8080E is the stock tire on an E39 BMW M5. |

Howdy and welcome to the board and do you have any pics of your car. What color is it as well? Regardless, the chrome bullitts will look good on it for sure.
For tires, I'd seriously consider getting Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s. They come in the sizes your looking for and are great dry/wet handling street tires. Unfortunately, the are little bit more expensive, but well worth it. I can personally attest to their capabilities. Long story short, I raced a tornado down I20 from Ft. Worth toward Sweetwater for about 3 miles in a torrential down pour doing around 90 while only about 15 feet from the back of an 18 wheeler's trailer. It was F'n crazy. The car never once wavered, nor did I loose control when we were slamming into pools of standing water. So, again, I say, they are well worth the upfront cost. P.S. Check out http://www.mach1registry.org/forums/index.php they have alot of good info as well.

Thanks for your opinions guys!
As for the Mach, it is straight black (no stripe) I want to get the bullitts because there are a few other Mach1's in my area that I always see driving around, and I really want something to make my Mach pop :P One more opinion regarding the tires... Obviously, with the 9 front - 10.5 rear setup, ful tire rotation is impossible. Do you guys think that it is more practical to run four 17 x 9's, or is the DD look in the rear just to bad-ass not to have. Thanks again! And I'll snap some pics soon! |

Got my 18" DD Chrome Bullitts from Tim @ http://www.volpaz.com/ ...really easy guy to deal with
And for tires I found eBay was my best bet...you can really price compare...picked up a set of 275/35-18...295/35-18 BFG KDWs cheap $800.00 shipped......the tread pattern is sick ![]()

2kids, did you get the pony centercaps with those? The site only states that you may not get the centercaps pictured (wtf?)
Have any of you had experience or heard about a site called cruzinconcepts? They have Bullitts at a fairly low price... http://cruizinconceptswholesale.com/products.asp?cat=17 |

I like the Ford Racing caps. yeah they are extra, but it completes the look. I see lotsa folks with a nice set of rims with the gay generic center caps...looks cheesy.

DDs on a mach are a must. They just don't have that "pop" your looking for unless they are DDs.

What ever you do DO NOT GET POLISHED you will be disappointed on how fast they lose their shine and the amount of work to keep them shinny is a major PITA...if you want shiny get chrome Now I'm sure someone will come in here and say my polished ones are just fine but hear me now and believe me later...GET CHROME if you want shiny
