Sumitomo tires

Does anyone have these tires? There cheap and get pretty good feedback ratings. I;m gonna order some cause I need at least 2 new tires to pass inspection. Money is kinda tight is the reason. But the reviews seem to praise these tires over the high dollar OEM's. Thanks for any input... :worship2:

Oh and BTW.. They are 245 45 17, ZR rated tires from tire rack.com

WaterDR 07-19-2007 11:21 PM

I had a set of these on my car when I bought it. I then went to another brand, and then back to Sumis. I don't run this tire but insead run the more classic looking HTR's instead (315's). Personally, I don't like the swooshy looking tread on the ones you asked about, but it's a personal choice.

Overall, I think the Sumis are the best deal out there.

Thanks for the input. A dude at work has some and they look good. but for 87 bucks a piece it's what I can afford this week. I need to pass inspection next week. LOL. and my goodyears are less than acceptable. Hmmm. Those long ass burnouts showed up after 3 years. and 16,000 miles. I'm gonna order em tomorrow. 20 bucks shipping with fed ex. (not bad i say).. :ohsnap:

I will be ordering a set of the HTRZ's this weekend too. For the price, they cant be beat. I called all of my local tire stores and asked how much for the cheapest Z rated tire in the sizes I want and its still cheaper to buy the Sumi's from Tire Rack and have a local shop install them... Glad to hear someone likes them.

WaterDR, how do the HTR 315s perform? Thats what I was looking at getting, 255/45/17 up front and 315/35/17 on the rear. I just bought my car last week and its already got 17x9 Cobra R's, so I'm just going to pick up a pair in 17x10.5's and see if i can sell of the other two 17x9's.

I have had two sets of them and they are great. They look awesome and get teh gob done. I have a 380 rwhp car with 4.10's too. They get hard as hell in the cold (below 40) and you may see a loss of traction below 50. They are great in the rain and sticky as hell when hot.

I can certainly break the tires loose especially if I try, but you can do that with any tire.

I bought these $79 shipped, from Discount Tire, I know they have some bad reviews but I found them to be great! Free Shipping and better prices, I received mine 2 days after ordering. They are not as stiff on the sidewall so the ride is very nice, I'm not about taking a corner at 60mph, I drive mostly in a straight line, overall I'd rather have a nice ride then a ride where I can feel every bump.

Thats the same tire Im running now. I got no complaints!

redfire04 07-20-2007 09:44 PM

I'm running the same Sumi's as posted in the first pic. The only complaint I have is road noise. It wasn't terrible just louder than I would like. I got an alignment when I got my headers on and they are less noisy now. I would buy another set if I were low on cash. My next set is gonna be some bfg kdw2's.

ordered these tires on weds. They arrived on fri. Had them put on today.

$197 total with shipping in 2 days.. Not bad at all.

Had them installed at Walmart for 10 bucks apiece including disposal of old tires. BTW, always go watch when thye're installing stuff on your car. The dummy put one of them on backwards. I had to point it out to him.. Oh well no harm no foul. Just made Him feel dumb. LOL. I'll take some pics tomorrow. They look pretty good for cheap tires. Getting 2 more in a couple weeks..

I wouldn't let anyone who works at walmart touch my car.

I feel they same way, But i couldn't pass up the price for right now. They got good equipment and it was only tires. Anyone who mounts tires for a living probably don't give rats ass about your car, no matter where ya go. I always stand right there and supervise. But yes i do agree walmart wasn't the best choice.. :flamed:

I took em out for a little spin today. Didn't lay any rubber but they handled good so far. Just a nice easy drive. I'll heat em up real good later.. :salook:

+ 1 million

Where do they check your tires during inspection? Thats crazy I thought it was bad here in tennessee.....

rebelyell 07-29-2007 09:14 PM

I even asked the guy if they do inspections. He said nope.. They actually do use 2 people to double check the torque on the lugs and document them. I think the problem was for this particular dude was I brought the tires in and he hasn't done many or probably very few directional tires. Walmart doesn't stock any tires than the normal passenger or truck tires. You can have them order them for you but. Anyway. Walmart aint no specialty tire shop.. so Be aware of their Car Care shop. I watched them for a while and I saw some serious laziness going on.. I was bout ready to leave when they finally got to mine. Then i knew it would be a good idea to stick around and watch.. :nono:

My HTRs showed up today! They look sweet, got a side-by-side comparison of the 245 next to the 315... Huge!
