255 45R17 on 17 X 8's

I do have to say that the 235 60R15's are really nice over the 205 65's on the stock 15 X 7's. And I was feeling pretty good about them then a
2000 GT with silver grooved 5 spoke wheels pulled up next to me.

So how about 255 45's all the way around. I was able to score a set of the GT wheels from 2000 just after investing in tires for my 15 x 7's ....
It will be a little while before I switch over to the
17 X 8's because tires can be pretty expensive for those rims and I don't want to buy as set of cheap tires - because, well you know, it's a Mustang.

Here is my thread on it and pics of what it looks like.

255's are perfect for a 17x8 rim.

sell the tires on ebay you just bought. dont list them as mustaqng tires just list the size so everyone can see them who needs that size. Im sure can sell them pretty quick on there.

Well I'm not sure about listing tires on Ebay...Shipping tires is probably pretty expensive - Anyone do that before? It's probably $25-30 a tire.
But it would help get a set of treads for the 17's.

I'll be leaving for Colorado in a couple days and have to leave the Mustang in the garage. I'm really going to miss it. It is really fun to drive.
I actually sold my Jeep Wrangler which was lifted and built up right BUT I'm not missing it with the Mustang at hand.

Hey, maybe Herts has a Mustang Rental out there in Colorado....:kekekegay:

That's for posting about your 255's Looks great! How's the handling on turns?

Way better than the bargain bin tires I had. Wife drove it 50 miles this afternoon in a heavy rain and she said she still noticed some hydroplaning.

Maybe everyone was.
And I think perhaps my idea of good wet road traction and the sport tire worlds idea of acceptable wet traction are way off.

But we love the tires so far. I'll tell you this. We thought we needed new shocks because the ride had gotten horrible. New tires fixed that, they are WAY more quiet and are cushioning the ride better.

I'd stick the tire size a little different... 255/40/17. 255/45 are a little taller and me no likey too tall tires.

slogo 07-11-2007 03:57 PM

I considered that but due to still being stock height I didn't want to increase the tire to fender distance with a shorter tire.
After lowering I will get 40s

I know there are alot of awesome Hot Rodded Mustang owners here but I kinda like the more stock look for me. Which couldn't be that bad because many started with that.
I'm going to be putting on a set of the optional 5 spoke 2000 GT wheels and it should look pretty close to this Red Mustang below although mine is Electric Green.

There is so much you can do to these Mustangs but I'm pretty set on keeping mine reasonably stock looking. But probably do a dual exhaust and fog lights at some point.
As far As tires go I'm now leaning toward the Goodyear Eagle ResponseEdge:

Which only come in the 245 45R17 size. But it has excellent ratings.
