bought wheels need tires

i bought 03/04 cobra wheels for my 04 V6 and was wondering what tires i can run with out rubbing on a 1.5" drop. i was thinking 265/40/17 up front and 275 or 285/35/17 out back. let me know what you guys think.

i'd go 275's all the way around. you won't have any problems with rubbing and you can still rotate your tires for longer use out of them.

i know this is what the cobra uses but i was worried about rubbing issues on the V6. handling would be better too i suppose.

i run a 315/35 17" on the rear of mine and 275's in the front. The v6 and v8 cars still have the same dimensions so it dosnt matter. btw i have a 2" drop all around also..

you won't have to worry abotu rubbing and those wide tires will really look good :D

I also rcmnd using the same tire size so that you can rotate them and get the most use.

andysperformance- can you send me some more pics of your car? i wanted to run 315/35 out back but i heard handling goes way down. i do like the idea of being able to rotate them.

jon3sgte 05-05-2005 11:12 AM

i missed this on my first post. the rears are 10.5. cant rotate these. anyways, what set-up would give me the best traction?

Look at this http://www.mustangtuning.com/cridessec1.html, Bigger is better as far as straight line traction but it aslo depends on the tire specs.

im not too concerned with straight line right now. i want to be able to handle corners decently until i can get my motor swap done.
