I've got both and like them both. GSD3s on the GT and BFG KDWs on the Mach. As for the size, on 17x8s, I think the biggest you can get are 255/40s, maybe you can squeeze 275/40s, but I'm not sure.

I just got the BFG KDW II's (295/35/18) for the rear and so far they are great. IMO they look pretty aggressive. Either way you go, I think you will be happy!

Overall the GS D3 is definitely a better tire hands down. The KDW2 is a great tire, don't get me wrong, but there's been reports of uneven and strange treadwear. But that may have been fixed since this was when they first came out.
When it comes to tires, you get what you pay for. If you can come up with the money, GS-D3's would be my vote |

A.) 40 sidewall on either a 235 or 255 will look like rubberband poop. b.) there will be minimal difference really from the 235 to 255, just get 245 all the way so you can still rotate tires. Trust me, if you aren't willing to pay more for a better tire, no sense in just wasting that money when you can't rotate tires. |

275's are too wide. If you want them that bad then get 9" rims. You lose mad sidewall strength when you bulge them out by sticking them on too skinny a rim.
I run 275/40/17 on all 4 corners with 95R rims. You should be able to find some rims for cheap on craigslist. |
