sumitomo...
good? bad? there cheap, thats for sure... need help please:help:
|
Ive got them. For the price you can beat it. I cant break them loose pretty easily. got 275/35's and 315/35's for right around $500 installed. If youve got a supercharger or gears then they wont be good. They arent very sticky..
|
i wont have t worry about the s/c ut im getting gears... s/c is out of the question lol
|
i got sumotomo's with 245 in the front and 315 in the rear. Auto GT, chip, intake, exhaust, 4:10's
for the price you cant beat em. Great summer tires they stick pretty well. However if the road is under 30 degrees they dont stick worth a damn. if there is snow or ice they just spin like idiots. totally worthless and downright dangerous for winter driving. |
i think you know my opinion...
complete crap...cheapo! |
I have them as well nothing really to complain about, Ive had them for atleast 2 years now, but keep in mind my car only has 16k miles on it.
|
Like the others said they are only sticky if its not to could out or you heat them up some. Otherwise they get rock hard.
|
they handle great on 18x10s and 18x9s, with my stock suspension i can take corners as fast as i want and not have to worry about sliding out- off the line they are useless though.
|
I have them on mine.... 315s out back and 255s up front. I haven't had any problems when them as of yet, and I've had them about a year. Like the others said they don't stick very well and I can spin them at will, but you can't beat them for the price.
|
If you don't need deep dish tire sizes and want something a little better than Sumitimo... BFG G-Sport's are great. $125 for a 275/40/17.
|
Does anyone else get a lot of pulling and such on uneven surfaces with the sumitomos? I have the 315s and 275s and I get it a lot. Was just wondering if its because the tires are cheap or if its because of the size tire in front?

Jack, drive around with some 275's up front and it'll give you a whole new definition to what you just posted.. lol Have to manhandle the ****er! :shock2:
well... now that i think of it, my honda doesent really seem to have that problem. huh |
yeah with 275s up front it sucks ass. on really bad roads I could change lanes without even touching the wheel. I wish there was a way you could calm it down a bit.

ahh i didnt know u lived in kansas...so do i
and yea i say any BF Goodwrench tires are good...especially KDW 2's and for the snow in kansas (like the shit we just got) i would get snow tires on a set of crappy rims or something...lol i put my stock wheels on for the winter but they still have the same stock shitty tires |
If you need to drive in the snow 275's/315's are gonna suck no matter what. I don't even think anyone makes a snow tire in a 315 because it would be pretty much pointless.
The sumis a re nice in the rain, work great on dry roads, and get hard when it is cold. I think any summer tire does....it is a trade-off. I have 'em. I also have 4.10's and a blower. Before the blower, I pulled 2.0's in the 60 foot....I have seen plenty of guys on DR's not be able to pull a 2.0. Never had the car at the track with the blower. I have also really not used anything else, so it is hard for me to compare. |
I've had them for over three years, not bad for the price. They don't hook very well, thats my only bitch.

Here's my opinion on the Sumitomo's, and I'm talking about the HTR Z's. As a disclaimer, this is coming from the point of view of someone who likes to romp on it quite often (no granny action).
IF you are strapped for cash, and looking for a cheap way to get some big ass meats in the rear (i.e. 315's...) then this tire is a great idea. Hell, that's the reason I got them. Now that I have gotten them and have had them for a while, I completely regret it. Sure, they're amazingly priced, but for a reason. I have a near stock GT, but still, they simply do not hook up. The second you get even a little friendly with the pedal, you get nowhere fast. First and second gear are pointless if I romp on it. Sure you can baby it, but to make them not spin I have to baby it to the point that a semi can pass by off a launch. DR's here I come. |
