BF goodrich drag radials?
 

How many miles can i expect to get out of BF Goodrich G-force Drag radials under normal driving?

Are you going to be driving on them everyday? If so you might get 6-8k miles on them depending on driving habit and how many burnouts you do on them. I've had mine on for awhile now and they are pretty much slicks...you can still see a slight tread design. I drive back and forth to work everyday on mine and i've gotten about 10k on them.

I have about 200 miles on mine and they are starting to show a little bit of wear but then again i tend to be a little hard on my tires... I love the way they grip though if that is any concern

Im in college ful time and im about an hour and 30 away from home. I drive home about every other weekend and dont drive much during the week. I have 4.10 and im sick of not hooking up and i thought these tires would be a good christmas present. Other than the nitto DR's what could be another alternative for tires that i might get some more miles with and still stick pretty well to the ground.

Where else on line can i look for drag radials beside tirerack.com and discounttiredirect.com

why don't you treat the problem instead of the symptom? The problem is you have crappy traction, the symptom is you spin non-DR tires.

Make sure your suspension is set up to give you the best traction you can have without burning $250 apiece tires every 8k. I'd suggest looking at your RLCA's, rear shocks, and investing in a panhard bar from Maximum Motorsports. Softening the front suspension by removing the front sway bar will help your launches at the track.

I would love to do all the suspension mods if i continued to go to the track but i have done performance mods to my car such as 4.10's, diablo tuner, steeda CAI,eibach sportline's, steeda short throw shifter. and i wanted to just get drag radials just as a one time purchase to get a decent time slip then go back to my original tires when there out.

your call... if just a one time slip is what you want, then you're on a good track. I don't know from experience if just LCA's are going to give you what you want but they'll certianly help.

if your gonna run drag radials that will greatly reduce the wheel hop you get now. But a set of lower control arms are a highly good upgrade for our cars.

Tires are not going to STOP wheel spin, like everyone else has said. If you don't launch right, don't warm them up enough or aren't sitting in the groove, then it won't matter. If your blowing the tires off, try adjusting driving style. I'm not trying to talk down to you, but tires and suspension will only help you in the battle. It takes MANY MANY passes to learn your car. Im not worried about my driving one bit I ran a 14.2 stock the first time i took my car to the track 3 days after i owned it and it was my first time driving a V8. Im just looking for a quick solution to the tire spin that i know will work. And these tires will obviously help out. I will probably look into gettin LCA's now that i know there such a goood upgrade.

ha ha ...DR's should never be used for "normal" driving...unless normal driving is at the track.

I agree to an extent with "some" tires.

in actual answer to the question... from 4-8K miles is all you should "expect" anything less is your fault for roasting them, anything more is your luck which you should be thankful for.

I understand there are some drag radials that claim decent tire life but I don't imagine that those claims have been validated on the street. I average 12-15K on a set of regular z rated street radials, I couldn't even begin to afford DR's with the way and amount I drive.

both pairs of my nittos got over 15k miles on them. And i drag race alot, burnout, etc.

Freinds car with BFG's got the usual they get which is 8-10k miles.

I just put a set of steeda UCA's on and it helped,some.

Are they really worth gettin?

Lowers before uppers, or both at the same time.

I have both but need new bushings for the lowers and they sent the wrong ones. So when I had time I went ahead and did the uppers. Lowers are not going to be adjestable.

Dr's for a DD is a bad idea. If you need to drive in the rain DR's are an accident waiting to happen. the BFG type 1 were OK but teh type 2 are so much worse in the rain.


Nitto should not even call their DR a Drag radial. Its compound is almost as hard as a standard High performance Summer tire.

If you want to hook at the track get a set of take off rims and MT DR's and throw them on when heading to the track.

Also many DR's really need a good heat cycling to break them in and unless you get the hot enough you will be just wasting your time.

Thats a good idea but if i have a 13.5 car i want to be driving that car everyday and not have to change my rims to do so. I pretty much kick my own ass everyday i look at tires and prices because i wish i would have just went with dd 17's then i would have nitto Dr's all the time.
