tire pressure

hey i have street tires on my car and was wonderin how much psi i should put in them to get the best grip. the max psi on the tires is 44 psi

I believe 32 is what is recommended at cold. Probably around 34-36 since it's still hot outside. I wouldn't go and higher than 40. The higher the pressure, the more wear and tear you put on the tire when you hit rocks and railroad tracks etc.

i go 30 psi with the nitto 555's and they grip real tight

from a guy whos been racin since he was 16 years old and has been runnin in the 10's an 11's told me to do 20 in rear and 60 in front. less friction in front or something like that. im gunna try it

****** drive to the track on normal psi and when u get there fill them up. and before u leave bring it back down to normal

36 for the rear and 34 or 32 for the front.

Are you talking about racing at the track, or street driving?

smg32208 09-10-2006 04:01 PM

track. i might go to the track again this wednesday. if i go ill try back 20 front 60 on two runs. and then the 36 rear and 32-34 front on two runs and ill post my times.

The fronts are supposed to have less rolling friction so they get the higher pressure, and the rears are supposed to be lower for grip. You got it backwards, and I wouldnt run 60psi in your tires. Last thing you want is a blowout up front when you are racing at 100mph.

What do I know though, go try it and see what happens...

yeah i was thinking the same thing especially when 44 is the max...

zigzagg321 36 for the rear and 34 or 32 for the front.

i said 20 for back, 60 for front so i had it right......... zigzagg had it backwards. but i was thinkn 60 is too high for front since 44 was max but the guy has been racin since he was 16 an knos his **** but i dunno. ill prob end up just doing max 44 psi in front.
