Cobra wheels on a 2000 GT
I have been reading all of the postings here on this board and have a question. Is it true that I can just pick up some newer Cobra wheels (17X9) and they will fit without any problems? The car is not lowered or had any suspension mods. I just don't know if the bolt pattern and the backspacing would be correct. If anyone has done this, please let me know. Thanks very much.

Thank you! I was hoping that it was just that easy. I will look for some pics to be sure that it is what I want to do. With a 17X9, I can use perhaps a 275/35(or 40)/17? Is the 275 too wide for a 9" wheel? Thanks you guys

Also where is the cheapest place to get a set of 17X9 Cobra wheels?
Thanks EROCK |
My car has 18" Cobra R's. The car is lowered 2". Not many problems.... so you should have NO problems.

That sounds great. Thank you very much

The 275's you're wanting will fit perfectly---that's what the cobra's come with from the factory.

BTW, I have a 315/35 17" on the 10.5's and no rubbing, i also run a 275/40 on the fronts on the 9" wheel.. As for where i got the rims they were custom ordered in black chrome through afs..

in the pic, they were fms B springs, I just installed a set of eibach sportlines that dropped it about 2" from stock, and no issues at all.

Then I HAVE to find out WTF is going on with my car.

Well, there is rubbing in the rear, but I can't tell where it is coming from.
It seems to be caused by my POS shocks though. They are no more good and after you ride around for a bit (or if I jump on the gas for some reason), you can hear rubbing from the back at slow turns. I think the shocks are settling too far and letting the tires rub on something. BUT, I have had the tires off a hundred times and cannot find out WTF it's rubbing on. I did find one place though (and I thought that it would solve the problems). It was rubbing on a little loop bracket that the brake line runs through by the rear tires. I bent those out of the way and they still do it. I have some new SpringTech shocks and coil over struts to put on the car... just waiting to have the money to do an alignment also. |
I almost ordered those black chrome Cobra wheels too, they look great

275's all the way on the 9" rims. Thats what I have on my 00GT
