Need tire suggestions

Hey, I was wondering what tires are some good all-weather tires and aren't bad looking. I'm goin' to need a new set before winter.

What sizes do you run?

Right now I'm running on 15", but I think since I have to get new tires I'm goin' to get the 17x9 Bullit rims.

whitethunder46 05-28-2006 06:56 PM

all season - BFG G-force Sport

if u can afford it, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S

zigzaggthefag321 05-28-2006 07:42 PM

Mich's are the best tire, but are soo freakin' $$$$ they arent worth it to me unless you have $$ to spare. If you get the 17x9's go with 275/40/17 IMO...maybe a little skinnier in the front if you wish. This is the tire size I run on the front of my car and 315/35/17's out back, but my rear rims are 10.5 inches wide. You'll be amazed at what a nice looking set of wheels and tires will do to your car.

SlicK 05-28-2006 09:40 PM

I'll look into both of those. Thanks for the help.

I'm leaning more towards the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. It's a pretty hott tire, and because I don't need new ones until October/November, I should have the money for them.

SlicK 05-29-2006 08:28 PM

Newb question.

What should the width for a tire on a 17x9 be? All I found are 225 and 235 mm and 9" is about 228 mm.

cameltoe 05-29-2006 08:29 PM

I have the Michelin Pilot Sport and I love them.

MattJ 05-29-2006 08:32 PM

I'm about 95% sure that's what I'm going to get. I appreciate the comments on them because I want to get a nice set for my new rims.

Those look sweet too, but they're pretty far out of my price range. I could afford them but then I'd have to keep the stock rims that look like ****.

whitethunder46 05-29-2006 08:40 PM

They're are many Pilot Sports.

They're are the origional, the PS2, and the A/S.

A/S is a great all round tire for the entire year, even snow if need be.

If it won't see snow, and you got the money, PS2 are where it's at.

Yea, I'll be in snow for this winter. After that I'm hoping I'll be able to afford a piece of **** truck that I can drive in the snow next year.

BTW. Can someone answer my question from above there about the width.

I went outside and looked and mine are P245/45/R17 you can get them from tirerack.com for about 199.00.

Your rims are 9" wide?

Matt94GT 05-29-2006 10:10 PM

BFG GFORCE KDW if you drive in the rain a bit
BFG FORCE KD if you mostly only drive in the summer.

whitethunder46 05-30-2006 09:55 AM

Only BFG you want is the BFG Sport since your looking year round.

You should look for a 275mm width for a 9" rim. You can go with a 265 but 275 is more common.

With that said, Pilot Sport A/S has a 275/40/17 priced at $279 each.
Also have a 255/40/17 priced at $207.

Looking at the Specs of that pilot sport, it actually says the 255/40/17 is measured for a 9" rim which according to them would be perfect for you. Not a bad price either. Michelin runs a little larger than other brands as well.

Hope this helps, any more questions?

BTW this was priced on Tirerack.com.
