New springs going on.
Soon I will be putting on my H&R super sport springs. I will be getting them installed by a local shop. Is there anything they will be taking off that I should get replaced at the same time? Do the lca's come off during this install? I figured that I might as well purchase something that is going to be removed during this install so they can put the new ones on for no extra charge.

There is no telling what is going to be taken off since a shop is doing it.

did you upgrade your shocks/struts already? if not you'll need to and might as well do it all at once |
Id say do it yourself..its super easy.

I did this in my yard in a few hours. I would get a bump steer kit and Steeda X2 ball joints, along with a set of CC plates by MM. If you got the money then I would add the lca's.

Do I need some special tools? I have heard that you can actually kill yourself doing this because you have to compress the springs so much. I am EXACTLY the kind of guy that would accidentally kill himself doing this!
The shops I have been asking have quoted me ~800 total. That seems like alot. |
no its not a hard job by any means. just get yourself some good instructions and a buddy maybe two if you feel more comfortable with more help.

You can kill yourself changing a tire. Common sense and basic knowledge is required any time you are working on a car. You don't need any special tools. Jack, jack stands, and the proper sized wrenches.

You don't need a spring compressor to remove/install springs on our cars. You may as well change out the shocks and struts while your down there.

Well, I guess I will try it myself early next week. Any links to helpful guides or write-ups of this?
Also, I could do this alone right? My friends all work when I have time off so I wouldn't be able to get someone to help. I have the cc plates to go on as well. After I put those on do I need to get the car aligned? |

You shouldn't need any help, but would be nice.
I just got done doing my Oil Pan Gasket, did my clutch not to long ago and coming up is going to be Upper Control Arms, within the next frew days. Then breaks, shocks, springs, exhaust ect... But I'd trade ya, it was hell doing the Oil Pan Gasket. :D Ps. I have probably the same knowledge you do, but I do research, talk to mechanics (well mine) and I have a Haynes Manual. :D |

I would start with the back. That goes quickly and would be a good test to see if you could do it or not, but it is pretty straight forward and shouldn't be that hard at all. On the fronts take time to check the ball joints and stuff to make sure they don't need changed out as well. I needed new ball joints, so I got the Steeda X2's that are great for dropped stangs and the Steeda bump steer kit at the same time. I new the car would have to be aligned so changing all before I got that done made more sense to me.
