Default Lowering an 06 GT???

Hey guys, im brand spankin new to the forum in hopes that you guys can help me out with a few questions iI have. I have an 06 GT that I wanna lower. Mainly for looks and to reduce the gap between the top part of the tire and the car but, I would like to stiffen her up a little if possible also or improve the performance if you will. I have some Bullitt wheels on it right now. 18x10 with 295/45/18 in the back and 18x9 with 265/45/18 in the front. I plan to change the rear tires to 285/40/18 in a couple of days. I was looking into getting some H&R Super Sport Springs or Eibach Sport spings from Americanmuscle.com but, I really have no experience in this type of modification to a car. Which of these springs is better for daily street use and ocasional track racing??? Also, if i get the springs, is changing out the shocks and struts a MUST right away and if so which springs would you guys recomend based on the driving situations i stated above??? Also, would i have to purchase the camber kit with either one of these springs or could I hold off a while and get away with doing each one of these things a little at a time??? Any other suggestions you guys have would be great also. Thanx

I did some searching around here lastnight and I'm leaning towards getting a set of Ford Racing Lowering Springs over the Eibach Sport and H&R Super Sport. I don't want the car to low as some of the roads around where I live are not exactly maintained very well. I just don't like the excessive gap in the rear stance that the car has. Everyone around here seems to feel the ride quality of the Eibach springs is really rough as well, that I don"t want!!! So, if i choose these springs would I have to purchase the shocks and struts right away since it's a Ford product??? Also, I've read that camber plates are not always necessary. From what I've read the car would need them if it drops below 1.5", is there any truth behind this???

I'd go with the Ford Racing springs. Those are the springs that I plan on getting if I lower the car. Here's what your GT will look like after they are installed> (customer pics from americanmuscle.com.)

Every car is different when it comes to if you need caster/camber plates or not. My car is only 1" lower and I do need them. As for a softer riding springs out of all of those the Ford racing springs will ride the softest out of those 3 for sure. You might want to also look into Steeda sport lite springs as well. You can do the springs now and add the shocks/struts later on once yours are blown out.

thanx for the pics audikillsbmw!!! Also, big thanx to spike africa for the shock/struts response... I checked ito the Stedda springs but, I'm still leaning towards the Ford Racing ones. I can't wait to get them on the car; I'll post some pics as soon as I do!!!

By the way audikillsbmw....what size tires do you have on those wheels???
