shocks
 

so im putting in my new shocks and ive followed all the directions, i have screwed them to the car and it says it should tighten to 25 foot LBs of torque. However the nut isnt getting tighter, ive gotten to a point where the actual screw coming out of the shocks spins with the nut as i tighten it. Does this mean im good to go........if not how am i supposed to measure the torque..........and help is welcome

just put it on tight till it still and you will be fine. I never worry about tourqe specs on the shocks and struts just get them tight and go.

Oh and wrong section.. moving to suspension.

Buy yourself an SK torque wrench from Amazon. You use that to tighten things w/ a torque spec. Also, having one is good for maintanence like spark plug changes.

man i just had to replace both rear shocks on my 04 mustang only 18k miles on it. I thought shocks were supposed to last longer than that

you should be able to stick an allen wrench in the shock stem (it should be socketed for it) to hold it still while you cinch down the retaining nut. You need to tighten until it takes a good shove to make any progress or until you see the rubber isolators start to bow out and look like a doughnut more than a bushing.

well im pretty happy with the ride im getting now, nice and smooth, i just tighten them as tight as i could, hope it does the trick, im sure it will
