Don't bother, you're just adding weight. You can get the same, if not, better performance by converting your rear suspension to use a torque arm/single upper link and panhard bar w/ a good set of lower control arms. Add in the right spring rate, shock, and sway bar, and you're set.

Why would you want the IRS in your GT?

the IRS will handle way better, But you can setup a Liveaxle to handle very well also. Its up to you there are plenty of cobra owners who would swap with you because they like to drag race. And it will bolt in.

lets say i want to make this as versital of a car as i can. i want to take it to the strip but i also wanmt to be able to out drive my friends. and i would love to learn to drift but don't think i will ever learn. but my main goal is to make this a powerful, yet all around car. i was plaining to put a 5.4 in for power, but not sure how long that will take. and want something for suspension, and rear end control..
waht would yall reconmend. get a suspension package for my current axle or go for the IRS??

Stick w/ the solid axle. IRS is more than what it's worth and will be better able to support the torque coming out of the 5.4.

ok, then waht would be a great suspension package to get that won't completly brake the bank, i was looking at either the maximum grip box, or the road and track from MM but they are alittle over what i can aford right. i want to lower my car and get full lenght subframe conecters by the end of summer, what else would help the rear?? or should i save up for on e of the MM packages??

IRS will break... I've had two of them and broken both multiple times.

If you want that kind of handling out of the rear then try out a MM panhard bar, torque arm, sway bar, LCA's, torque arm springs, tokico shocks. that's a helluva rear setup.

Otherwise just lower it and slap on a panhard bar and call it a day.
