spring rate question?
 
for the suspension pro's Is a spring rate of 537 front and 269 rear to soft or to hard for a 02 mustang gt. Some help would be great as to I have no clue as far as what spring rates are good vs bad!!!!

it's on the soft side of aggressive... equal to about a FRPP B spring. I typically recommend B's for people that are sensitive to ride quality but do need more spring than stock.

The rears are a tad stiff if that's their fixed rate. If that's the peak rate and they're progressive from like 175 then that's going to be firm but compliant enough not to bother most people.

There is NO BAD SPRING RATE. There are bad uses for a spring rate. Tell me what you plan to do with the car... racing, street only, street/strip, road course, auto-x, etc...

Also, we need to know how sensitive you are to ride quality and I'd be curious where these springs are coming from since those rates are not what I'd call common (those numbers are a helluva lot more precise than anybody could reasonably assign... I usually expect to see round numbers or numbers taht end in a 5).

EDIT: Of those are coil over springs then there's no good way to use them. If they're just lowering springs it shouldn't be a problem based strictly on rate.

yea they are lowering springs, Mainly for street and looks, maybee on the occasional track visit I'll tell everyone what springs they are after I put them on and see what everyone thinks of the look

I think that's a fine rate for the street. You may see some harshness from the back end being as high as it is but it's not that high anyway. Should be just aggressive enough to keep you from bottoming out. They'll hurt your 1/4 mile times a bit but I don't expect you care much about that with 400hp on tap you can more than make up for it.

If you're still on stock shocks and struts, I'd say check out the Tokico HP's or Illumina's. You'll shred your stockers in relatively short order with the lower stance and increased rate.
