i have a 96 gt , i am looking into new suspension stuff, i dont want to spend more the 600$ , what do u guys thing would be a good set up . more street then strip , but i want to have a good lanch.

which is more important to you, the launch or the street manners? Or better phrased... is it important to you that your car corner as well or better than it does stock or is it more important that you be able to launch on an improved road like a real 1/4 mile track?

Also, is ride quality important to you?

Once you have that info down we can get more specific.

the two uses are almost mutually exclusive. You can't have the best of either and get any good from the other.

If you really want that kind of match then you'll have to change to a panhard bar and torque arm rear setup with adjustable dampers up front and coil overs all around wouldn't be a bad idea.

For 600 bucks... get a set of SPORT springs and struts (not super sport or race... they'll trash your launch even more) and a set of CC plates. From there all you'll have to do to help your launches is pull the front sway bar and stuff some skinnies up front.

Also, sell the 75mm TB and get a 70 until you get a blower. 75 is too big and you lose power more often than not on NA cars.

I'd get the subframes as soon as you can too. They're more useful than you might imagine.

Another route would be to get tubular RLCA's, adjustable uppers and subframe connectors and start there. If you're not lowered yet you will want to decide if lowered is a priority. It's normally going to hurt your 1/4 mile times for you to lower your car unless you use a drag specific setup.

$600 is not much to work with. But heres what Id do.

Tokico drag adjustable struts with Strange adjustable shocks- $454.90+ a little for shipping.

Stock Mach 1 or Bullitt rear springs, stock 1993 LX 4 cyl. front springs. Price depends on a lot of things. Could be $50 for all, or $100+ for all.

Steeda HD adjustable upper control arms, or Baseline suspension pro launch kit. Pro launch kit- $260 plus shipping. Steeda uppers- $180 plus shipping.

MM adjustable lowers or PA Racing adjustable lowers. MM- $360 plus shipping. PA $179 plus shipping.

MM subframes (black)- $159.99 plus shipping.

For his set up, he will not be able to justify switching to coil overs in the front, none the less in the rear. gotta get more money mang... 600 is just a scratch on the surface. Don't forget that installation and alignments cost big time too. make sure you have enough cash to install whatever it is that you decide to buy.

FWIW... I like 03gtmustangs suggestions. Just remember... good on the street usually means not so great on the strip. not 100% true but usually.

That would be more street then strip, but youd be better off with adjustables since he wants a good launch, but also wants cornering. You also shouldnt run a front sway bar while racing, so upgrading to a Bullitt one would be a waste. He will be able to corner with the stock ones stuff just fine.
