on a 1966 mustang I can't keep the front end in alignment. all front end parts have been changed. the inner edges of the tires are scuffing. i have replced 4 tires so far and I am my 5th and 6th tires now. any help woulb be appreciated.

first thing first, some basic stuff:
jack the car up and wiggle the front wheels from the top and bottom. if it wiggles that's bad. Fix the source of the wiggle. have someone hold the steering wheel as tight as they can (block it if you can) and check the tie rod end's for slop/play. Replace/tighten as necessary. Is the steering columnand linkage stock or stock replacement? If so, check for a rag joint in the steering linkage. As those age they can allow a bit of slop and the tires can end up dragging across the road while in motion. Do you have the specs for your last alignment? Post em up. |
