Bullitt Suspension Package v. Eibach/H&R

Ok, after getting my wheels on, suspension is next on my list of to-do's. First of all, I don't race or anything like that, so I don't really need adjustables or anything of that sort. I have looked at both the complete Bullitt Tokico package (struts, shocks, springs, swaybars), and I have looked at just simply Eibach and H&R Springs. Any info/suggestions you guys have for me as far as drop/performance/results for the $$? What would you guys suggest doing?

Also, what about installs? I think I could get the springs in with a friend, but what about the Bullitt package?

zigzaggthefag321 07-16-2006 08:56 AM

i am looking at similar choices...hope we get some ppl that have tried both.

spike_africa 07-16-2006 09:01 AM

I have mach1/bullitt springs and while it is lower then stock hair under 1" in the back and only 3/4" in the front i like it alot. For me i cant go to low as i drive to N.C. and our road to the cabin is very steep and rocky.

zigzaggthefag321 07-16-2006 09:55 AM

did you get the whole Bullitt spring/shock/swaybars combo? If so...is there a big difference in handling? Right now Im leaning towards the "starter box" from MM....only problem is that is comes with H&R "Race" springs...maybe they can swap them out of the kit. Seems a bit strange for the "starter" package to have such an agressive spring with it.

herndy_1 07-16-2006 12:28 PM

zigzagg, give me a link to that starter box from MM. I might look into that.

here is the link to the site...it wouldnt give me the url for the actual page...all the address said no matter what page i was on in the site was the mail url to the site. Its real easy to find though....go to the packaged suspension section and its clearly labeled "starter box" I just hope they can substitute h&r supersports for the "race" ones in the package. Good deal for what you get IMO.

herndy_1 07-16-2006 04:16 PM

Damn, thats a lot more $$ than i was expecting. Have u checked out the Bullitt tokico packages? They run for around $400. Basically the only thing im not for sure about is how low the Bullitt is going to drop me (I'm afraid it might not be enough). I guess the Bullitt doesn't come with CC plates either.

zigzaggthefag321 07-16-2006 04:20 PM

yeah the bullitt kit is cheap for what you get....but...no CC plates and not getting H&R springs OR Bilstein shocks/struts....thats how i see it. If MM will give me the SS springs and not the Race ones...that kits my next weekend project.

the Bullitt kit is supposed to be a 3/4 inch drop i think....not enough for me.

03gtmustang 07-16-2006 04:50 PM

The Bullitt springs dont really give you much of a drop. IMO sway bars arent really worth it unless you autocross. Id get the Eibach pro kit or Steeds Sport springs and eventually Mach 1 shocks and struts.

spike_africa 07-16-2006 04:57 PM

i got just the mach1/Bullit springs. I dont plan to swap sway bars, but i will do new shocks and struts some time soon.

the handling is good for now it handles better then stock with about the same ride quality which is great for me. I was just looking for something to lower the car a hair while not killing my weight transfer. So these were the springs of choice for me.

herndy_1 07-16-2006 05:41 PM

How much do the mach shocks and struts usually run?

03gtmustang 07-16-2006 06:44 PM

Well they are made by Tokico.

zigzaggthefag321 07-16-2006 06:57 PM

Im still real curious about the Bilstein BTS system for our cars...less than 750.00 dollars for Bilstein shocks, struts and Bilstein lowering springs. Hell, i didnt even know that Bilstein made springs before I saw their BTS system. Bilstein makes tyop notch stuff, but I havent heard anything about their springs.

I have the entire Bullitt package on my car including the sway bars. I bought the entire kit for $300 in the box. It was too good of a deal to pass up. I did nto want to lower it much, and with 60k plus on the odo, I needed to freshen it up. The handling was noticeably better, but I also had some miles on my old, sock setup.

only 300 bucks!! where did you find that deal?

NoKturnaL 07-16-2006 08:45 PM

The Eibach Pro-System works for meeeeeeeee

Eibach Springs 1.5" all around
Eibach Struts n shoks
Cornering is a bit better. Stock ride feel..just a Lilttle stiffer.

Could I maybe get some pictures of the Bullitt package? TIA.

NoKturnaL 07-16-2006 08:53 PM

the Bullittt pack isnt worth it.....Barley any noticable drop if u ask me.

zigzaggthefag321 07-16-2006 08:53 PM

I have searched a bunch....cant find a review of the Bilstein BTS system on a mustang....anyone else?

CJ Pony! It was a special deal as they had taken it to a show and did not want to send it back.

How can you say it's not worth it? You get shocks, struts, springs, and sway bars for what $400. Not worth it? It is the deal of the century when it comes to replacing nearly an entire suspension system.

Now, it may not be for you, but it is certainly worth it. You may get less then a 1" drop, but it is still a great deal.

herndy_1 07-17-2006 07:14 AM

Well lets see, $400 for an entire suspension. I could get some different springs later if I wanted more drop, and even if I had to get CC Plates, that would add about $350 for a grand total of $750. Not to mention if I sold the Bullitt springs. Anyone else wanna find a better deal?

Anyone have pictures of the Bullitt suspension they could maybe post? Please?

Finally, I know it seems like the cheap way out, but what about just getting lowering springs (maybe CC plates). I do however have 50 grand on my stock suspension, so I figure I would probably benefit more from the Bullitt?

Lances03SVT 07-17-2006 07:27 AM

I have just H&R sport's and love them.No CC plates needed either.

spike_africa 07-17-2006 09:05 AM

The kinda person who would go with the bullit kit is more like someone who wants to keep a car with good springs weights for the drag strip still, But wants to lower the car down some without going so low that they cant make it up there driveway, road etc...

Sounds to me like you just want to lower it down some for looks. You should look at the steeda sport springs they drop it 1.25" and need no c.c. plates and ride pretty nice with a slightly firmer ride feel. I have seen them sell used for as little as 70bucks.

Then get some shocks and struts and your good to go.

herndy_1 07-17-2006 10:46 AM

if i got just springs, wouldn't the ride be pretty rough with my suspension having 50,000 miles on it?

Yea it might be.Just get the spring's and the Mach 1 strut's and shock's and then your set :beerchug:

spike_africa 07-17-2006 01:01 PM

It would be fine for awhile with stock shocks, struts. You would need to save up and buy some a bit afterward. But the ride wont be bad at all, till the shocks blow out.

TClark22 07-17-2006 01:35 PM

I have the H&R Super Sports...no CC plates yet and no allignment issues

i will replace the shocks and struts after a while just because the stockers will wear out

zigzaggthefag321 07-17-2006 02:41 PM

well, the decision had been made...I ordered the MM "starter box" with the H&R Race springs....the guy at MM told me that the race springs ride actually 1/4 inch higher than the sports and supersports. The only reason i didnt want the race springs were that i was afraid it would ride too low. Now I know...I also got the MM panhard bar kit which was suggested by MM as a good thing to go with the starter box kit. Should be here late next week and installed not this weekend but the next....I will post up pics before and after.
