Cobalt SS

curious to see if any of you guys have had any encounters with these little pos cars? lol I hate them. I was hanging with a guy tonight who drives a bone stock SRT-4 and he went after one.. it was pretty close, SRT-4 won by about a fender length but was pulling a little towards the end. Anyone else have any opinions/experiences with em?

Milos 01-27-2006 10:49 PM

A Cobalt almost clipped me off the highway today... NJ plates, merged into the left lane without signalling or even looking, throwing me into a state of pissed I never have been before in my life...... but he sped away before I could do more than lay on the horn, so I think he had some pull.

GREG@94GT 01-27-2006 10:54 PM

they are quick... s/c nuff said

Icefreezen 01-27-2006 10:54 PM

I test drove an SS....fun little car but I dont know if i'd ever buy one......It's got some get up...If it was a bit lower it would be a excellent handling car. It doesnt have much power in the mid range. You will start to see a lot of riced out versions of this car real soon.......which is a shame...and i'll be te one to put them out of their misery :devil2:

Hell they put a S/C Ecotech engine........The Ecotech engine stands for everything I hate......no power...all they did was put it on steroids

csledd 01-27-2006 10:55 PM

depends on what you call quick though.. I know my buddies stock LS1 TA tore up the SRT-4 that beat the Colbalt.. so in theory they're still slow to LS1's/modded GT's imo

csledd 01-27-2006 10:59 PM

yeah.. the cobalt and srt-4 seem pretty similar i guess, just with different FI. then again we noticed this guy was a newbie driver too lol he couldn't downshift it very well and wouldn't even look over at us at all lol

Thats how it was twenty-thirty years ago.. all the jap-companies took all the qualities of the American car and put it on the drawing table to see how they could make it better, and thus you had the Toyota movement in the 90's, the mitsubishi movement in the late 90's early 00's... its about time the American companies did the same in return.

csledd 01-27-2006 11:01 PM

ewww i don't want no rice in my ford though :(

Who's getting more domestic sales? Think about it.

yeh... they are ****ty cars...

Imports sell because they are cheaper and better on gas...

they arent anywhere near as good looking or as high performance as almost any domestic...

for instance honda put a V6 in thier pickup... Why the hell would you do that... if you buy a honda pickup never expect to tow anything more than a jetski and dont be surprised when you get stuck in 12" of snow...

the jap cars are garbage period...

the only imports that i have to admit are decent are the german cars...

lol did you know the focus is the #1 car to be driven by a gay person in 2006

Milos 01-27-2006 11:15 PM

Dude you just threw out the case for all imports in your last post. Why do people buy them? Because of fuel efficency and price.

Thats why no one buys domestically manufactured cars because domestics are made quarterly, where as imports are made to last, which is why you see less problems with imports until they reach their high 1000k's than you do domestics.

*EDIT*

And when I took driving lessons, three of them were in a focus, one of them was in a V6 97' Mustang and I ****ing LOVED IT, wanted to take the Mustang for my test instead of the Focus, but they wouldn't let me...

stop... i've riden in in several american cars that were very high in milage... american cars tend to be abused a bit more...

a good friend of mine has an ol mid 80's silverado... 350 with closing in on 300k... that 350 runs like new... i sware to you... yes, original engine...

now STOP HATING DOMESTICS... THEY ARE THE BESTEST EVER

- in case I didnt say it clear enough errghhh ergg rumm m ... **** YOU BITCHES

csledd 01-27-2006 11:20 PM

to be completely honest.. I would totally rock a 97-01 Honda Prelude, but I'd still have to have my mustang also. I think the lude's were pretty sweet rides but a Honda.

but anyways.. I use to have a 95 v6 mustang with like 120k miles on it.. and I was selling it and it took FOREVER to sale it, had to keep knocking the price down. And then me and my dad bought a 01 Hyundai Accent that was wrecked and fixed it up and it sold within 3 days of having an ad in the newspaper.. and it had like 90k on the ticker I believe. The only way I managed to sell the 95 stang was this english dude who just moved over always wanted a mustang and he could finally afford one.

csledd 01-27-2006 11:21 PM

oh and btw.. my 95 v6 with 120k miles on it ran perfectly and was still as strong as ever.

Milos 01-27-2006 11:22 PM

Dude, I don't hate domestics... I freaking own one. :poke:

MattJ 01-27-2006 11:36 PM

Ive driven them. they are decently quick.

Shambles 01-28-2006 12:30 AM

I would think a pulley change would do that engine some good.

RyanGT04 01-28-2006 05:55 AM

well i can see this got a little off topic so... I raced one of the SC ones on an 1/8 mile, only mod i had was exhaust. Also i had the check engine light on(before i got MIL eliminators) and for some stupid reason i left my traction control on for the first run. I beat him in the first run and he said he missed 2nd gear so i ran him a second time(with Trac off) and beat him again.

White04GT 01-28-2006 06:33 AM

I watched a cobalt SS vs a ls1 and that SS ate that ls1 alive. both were modded but I guess the cobalt had a pulley..I know it had exhaust.
