the official "I hate trash" thread

As probably none of you know, I am a server. And I hate trash. White trash, specifically. They smell bad. They order steaks extra well done which rob the steaks of all flavor, juice, and leave the steak tasting like leather. They order their sweet tea, baked potato(just butter), and suck down their drinks. They don't know how to dine. They treat me like garbage. Last night, I had a guy leaning into my view while I was taking an order and stare at me until I turned to him and said "Hold on a sec" then the guy had a hissy fit and tipped me $5 on $100. I had another table in which I treated like royalty and in the end got $4 on $80.

When it comes down to it, if $4 is all that you're going to tip, it's less of an insult to just keep it.

If it smells like trash, looks like trash, acts like trash, and the tip they leave is trash....then they are trash.

I hate trash.

Islander03GT 12-31-2005 05:15 PM

I'll remember to not tip you then.

Servers who bitch about tip are the lose. I generally go 15%... but if you suck, you're not getting that much.

Your entire comment is ridiculous.

a) you don't live near me

b)I give excellent service, you have no reason to not give 15% or more

c) I dont actually bitch TO THE CUSTOMER, so you'd never have any idea anyway.

d) define "suck". just bc u dont get ur well done steak in 10 minutes doesnt mean the serve isnt doing his/her job.

ahh I could go all night. I wasn't particularly fond of tonight's tips but NOt bc I sucked...I know I was awesome. We just get some pretty bad trash where I work

rada 01-01-2006 09:04 AM

For good service I tip 20 - 25%

m0nkeh 01-01-2006 09:11 AM

if good i make it simple and tip 20%, unless its a chick and shes hott

dannyb785 01-01-2006 09:24 AM

And when it coems down to it...if tipping 20% foe excellent service is too much for you..and will break the bank, then you don't even need to be eating out.

I went out w/ a group of ppl and one guy's bill was $16.50 and he gave her a $20 bill and said to give him back $1...I was like "dude....its a freakin dollar..." and he's like "I work hard for my living, I already gave her $2.50, thats enogh" but what got me was about $20 prior he was a) praising her for her great job giving refills and b) talking about how hot she is and how he wants her number.

What a loser

m0nkeh 01-01-2006 09:35 AM

wow, give her the 20,maybe 25 and get paper n pencil and get that # lol

SilverCobra 01-01-2006 09:15 PM

Go Danny

Steak-pink in the middle
Sweet Tea-yea I love it
Baked Potato-Loaded

Here is a rule of thumb for anyone who dines out.
If you get good service you should tip at least 20-25%

If the service is truly outstanding and the food is as ordered you should tip 30% or above and speak with the Manager or Owner on hand to let them know they have a great employee who is working hard and doing a job above and beyond!

If your service is good but the food is poor STILL TIP your server! They did what they are paid for. If the food sucked talk with the Manager and request they comp some or all of the meal.

When the service is truly poor and only the server is responsible for a bad experience tip as you see fit, but make sure you leave at least one dollar so that the server doesn't think you forgot the tip. When you leave a small tip have enough balls to tell your server what they did wrong.

Oh yea, one more thing: If you are a prick to the guy or gal taking care of your table don't expect good service because you are the people who don't tip and bitch about everything.

This advice is not biased as I have never worked as a waiter or in a restaurant business.

Respect these people as you would expect the same respect if they came to purchase goods or services from your business! :beerchug:

I like your talk of 30% tips....

of course I never expect that much...and all I expect is what I deserve. If I flub up the order and take forever for drinks and dont give refills when needed, then by all means give me 10% or under. but if I am SUPER NICE. and super sweet. giving refills before needed, and gave a great overall experience...you giving 10% or under(or even 15% for excellent service) says alot about your personality and if you value others' work. If you give 15% regardless of how grat the service is...expect service to get less and less good if u continue to go to the place. The servers will recognize you(as I do so often) and will act accordingly.

General rule: Take care of us and we'll take care of you.

Try delivering food to someones door and getting tipped nothing
overall its good money but it drives me nuts how some people can give little to no tip.

When i was 16 i delieverd Pizza for PizzaHut and i quit after one night i was driving and almost got into an accident delievering a pizza, that started my night off bad, and then to beat it when i went to deliever the pizza I told the customer it was "$13.90" and he gave me $14.00. I quit right after that.

As for tipping at a resturant, Most people will never really tip well and they will never understand your work unless you have worked there. Im not gonna lie, i always use to like tip $3-$4 bucks everywhere i went if my bill was like $50 bucks. That was untill i worked at a resturant, after working at a resturant I knew what every server went through, now i always tip a good 20%, another thing i learned is that when your known to tip well, next time you return to the resturant the waiters know you and hook it up with even better service.

dannyb785 01-02-2006 09:29 AM

I just keep tryin to think of inventive ways to tell ppl that their tips suck w/o offending them. Obviously, we cant chase them in the parking lot and say that we deserve more. So what I'll do sometimes is if I see a $5 bill in the booklet w/ their cred card (say their bill is $50), I'll pretend like I'm not sure what the $5 is for. So when I ask them, and they say it's for me, I'm like "uh...oh...ok" and I put an upset face on and walk away. lol, sometiems it works...usually it doesnt, i just HATE how it's "socially unacceptable" to talk to a customer about their tip.

You may not bitch to the customer, but I hear this **** online all the time from food servers. Honestly I hope that you guys bitch more so tipping becomes less expected as people get annoyed at the lack of gratitute. Gratitude.. thats a funny word... the root for GRATUITY. Its not something we have to do, if it was, it would be included in the bill.

Define suck? Ok. If my beverage is empty, and you walk past the table, and don't ask if I'd like another, or if I have to ask you if I can get a refill. Food is taking longer than normal and you don't check in to apologize/let us know. Servers with attitudes. Ones who treat me like less of a customer because I'm 21 and they EXPECT me to give a ****ty tip... when that happens, its a self fulfilling prophecy.

I generally tip in the 15-20% range. I yell at my friends who cheap out on the tip. But when I get ****ty service, you don't get a tip. You also get a comment on the reciept about it so the manager can see. But I do the same thing for great service, I let them know that you did a good job.

Moral of the story, people who cheap out on a deserved tip do suck, but I also think that servers think they're worth a hell of alot more than they actually are. If its a such a problem, you guys should unionize, then talk your employers into increasing prices 15-20%, paying you more, and doing away with the whole concept of tipping.

And who the **** gets a steak well done? I want that **** as bloody as possible.

THE SUBJECT OF THIS THREAD IS THAT HE HATES TRASH
stop bitchin cause he is complaining i would and i bet you would too

Grimmz 01-02-2006 01:36 PM

Dear god why are we starting another thread about servers and tips...jesus, if you work at a ishty or mediocre restaurante then go figure ur tips aren't guna be that great, if you want better tips work at the Melting Pot or something...

otherwise...NO ONE CARES, I always tip 15% or more, I think i've paid my tax enough not to hear about an isolated inncident...

SpinMedia 01-02-2006 02:09 PM

I really dont believe the people who say they tip 30%+, I want to see them leave $30 tip for a bill thats $100. The most I have left for tip was $20 bucks, and thats because it was like 6 people and the bill came out to like $90 bucks, and it was at a Denny's.

SilverCobra 01-02-2006 03:27 PM

Spin, Sorry you don't believe us people who tip 30% and above for awesome service. I will only tip 30% and above if the service is something to write home about. By the way a 30% tip on a $75 bill is only $22. The other side to this coin is when you go back to the restaurant or bar and work with the same server they will bend over backwards to make sure you are taken care of. They will also learn your first or last name and call you by it. Imagine taking your date out for a nice dinner and being greeted by your server who knows you by name, knows your drink order and treats you like Donald Trump. For me its worth the extra $11 on a $75 bill!
