Theres a guy I met this weekend that has a black SRT-4 Stage 3 with an AGP Turbo upgrade making 22psi. It supposedly runs low 11's. We were on the interstate and we lined up. 70 roll. I was waiting for a honk or some kind of sound to start from but he did nothing. The only sound I heard was the turbo spooling up and by the time I heard that he was flying, I then took off when he was already 2 cars ahead. Even after I was WOT he was gaining ground on me. Had to get off of it cause there was a turn up soon. Even if we had a decent start he would have taken me. He has a methanol boost cooler but he wasnt using it.
Earlier that day I witnessed that same SRT-4 run door to door with a 03 Cobra that was spraying a 75 shot and had a ported blower with a small pulley and full exhaust. It was a BAD Neon. Huge Intercooler.

eek, but you should have known better then to start at 70mph, at that speed the guy's turbo is already spooling... you lost your advantage...but oh well that sux, welcome to my world, I got my doors blown off by a Civic hatchback today on my way home from Pompano, the guy hit 3rd gear all i hear is the swish of the turbo and see him fly by, i was in 5th only doin 75 but he moved quicker then i thought...
as far as givin props, every now and again maybe a high priced import WRX, Evo, but hondas F' NO it comes down to money, sure if i threw away 5.5 Grand on a turbo kit with a milion bolt ons i could be quicker then a GT...then again i spent 5.5 grand...

Off the line you would hand him his ass. He can get into boost and eat you alive from a roll.

so like, is someone better off getting a 4banger moddin it, or getting a v6 or gt stang and moddin, i mean if these 4's r winning and they r cheaper...then? (just like my friend sayn he will kick my a$$ with a civic with a muffler and integra engine, and ive heard from people that he'd win...

I raced a integra the other day that had intake, and full exhaust from a 20 roll and raped him by about 5-6 car lengths and then let off..of course I have a 04 GT, but only have CAI..I think you would lose since you have a stock 98 v6.

imma go cry now, but yea, its true, my cars SLOW, all imma do is get CAI - maybe gears or tuner - rims - springs ... then a stereo, then my next car a yr down the line, will get GT, move rims to that and move stereo to that...lol and THEN mod and race around...but for now, i can handle my OTHER friends 97 sentra...lol

Raced one not too long ago and had him by at least 5 car lenghts off the line. Then I eased up a bit and he blew by me.Lesson don't let up till your at least 8 lenghts ahead. On a roll yea your at a big disadvantage unless you got some juice.

Ive driven 13s srt4s and raced against 11-12-13 sec srt4s at the track. ill give you an example of one I raced that was a 12 second neon on slicks. Look at the first half of the runs. Its MURDER. They are all high end boost cars.
me: rt- .146 60- 2.044 330-5.734 1/8-8.766 miles per hour-81.47 1000-11.377 1/4-13.567 miles per hour-104.60 neon srt4 (slicks, rollcage, full interior ect...) rt-.944 60-2.316 330-6.010 1/8-8.612 miles per hour-21.86 1000-10.799 1/4-12.579 miles per hour-128.33 |

Yea I know I see them at the track all the time. When your watching them race its hard to tell what they will run. It might look like they have a slow start to a 14 second pass then you look at the ET lights and he just ran like a low 12.

Why would any one want to mod a neon. Come on a neon? Rice burners and these guys who think their neons are bad piss me off. Go out and buy a real car. Thats why i supercharged my stang. Rolling start at 70.. go ahead ill give em a head start.

My thoughts exactly. Do you know what 22 psi will do on a Mustang? Can you say TONS of hp?

I will give you an analogy. Let's say you had the option between marrying two girls. One is completely un-attractive and embarrasing to go out in public with. But, she is a monster in bed. The other is a hot babe who everyone notices, and still is a bit fun in the sack but not like the first one. The Mustang is the one second girl, the SRT-4 is the first one....sort of. Which kind of guy are you?

At 22 psi of boost, you're probably seeing 25 mpg or less. I just don't see the advantage.
