Come talk to me when you run a 14.0 With a stock NPI longblock, bolt ons, A/C, Mach 460, and power leather seats. Nothing but bolt ons here. Come to think of it, run a mid 14 with your manual.

No one is saying automatics are faster, we are saying they have and advantage with a stock GT when it comes to launching. You also can't miss a shift since it's computer controlled. You started this whole thread by insulting automatics, we simply explained that muscle cars have always had automatics and that is very common to see them in very fast street cars. Nobody has said manual suck or are slower, just that it is harder to achieve the same results consistantly with them. You also have the additional worry of destroying your rear end once you get sticky tires. Most of the guys I race with at national events have to tow their cars to and from the track due to the risk of rear end breakage. They have manuals, I don't have to worry about that. I drive my car to the track, change tires and race. Once you start racing your car on a regular basis and adding mod's you will see what we are talking about. Is a matter of preference not one is better than the other.

 

You're damn straight I'm talking to you...I'm calling your slow ***, 96 turd out. I want to see you run a 14 flat with it, since manuals are so much faster, without gutting everything out of the car such as A/C, power leather seats, and a full on stereo, which adds weight, not power, rope-smoker.

To make it interesting, I could put my back seat, spare and jack back in and run on street tires, and still blow your doors off 19 out of 20 times. I ran 5 14.25's in a row at full weight, and countless 14.0's at my race weight.

The point that YOU are failing to see is that the 3% increase in RWHP you gain by having a manual transmission, does NOT make up for the complete and utter lack of consistency it brings along with it.

If you want to get technical, furnish a race weight, and your three best times...I guarantee they have a larger range between them than a tenth of a second.

Beating an 05 V6 isnt much of a feat with your car, stock for stock.

05 V6 comes with 210 HP stock, your car comes with 215 HP Stock. My 96 is way faster than your '96, but then again I have a Cobra and you a GT.

Frankly, my old Lexus could kick your ***. Its an auto and all I have to do is switch it into ECT mode, turning it into a 3 speed car and blow by you.

Autos are great cars to have, and just because you have an auto doesnt mean you have a slower car, and manuals arnt any faster than autos are.

Think of it this way. With a manual the driver has a lag time between shifting gears. We shift when WE think we have gotten max performance out of the car. In an auto, it will shift when it sees that it is the best point to shift. There are already modifications for autos to make them more controlled, similar to manuals. Hell, all you really need nowadays is just an X-Calibrator. That will fine tune the auto, change the shift points a bit, and create a meaner, quicker optimized shift throughout the RPM range.

Autos are just as good as manuals. There really isnt much difference between the cars, beyond the difference in weight and transmission.

And for Gods sake please learn to speak the English. Get a grammar guide or something, because your English is really hurting my eyes to read. Ive seen better writings from a preschooler with down syndrome.

Okay I can deal with the fact that I'm an uncordinated wussy because I don't bang gears. I guess I need a special emblem on the rear of my non-muscle car to warn real muscle car drivers that they are about to get waxed by a Mustang posing as a muscle car.

How about I race you in my wife's v6 5 speed automatic just for grins. Hope you can run better than 14.90 or you'll lose to a lowly automatic. By the way it is stock so it would fit your criteria.

its true that with the right mods. your auto will be equal or faster to a manual tranny. but until you do these mods. the manual should be able to take the auto tranny givin there is a driver that can shift right.
