Default Camaros and Mustangs....

Do any of you ever catch flak from Camaro owners?

Seems like it's been a firm rivalry for a few decades (until they stopped production of Camaros ), but all of their owners seem like some cocky people, must be around 3 of them down here they love to throw down some hate on Mustangs.

Now I don't really know much about Camaros, except for the names SS and Z28, which I guess are the Mach 1 and Cobra of our Mustangs? Camaro owners seemed fixed on the statement that Camaros are faster than any Mustang stock for stock, when properly matched.. anyone know anything about that?
And I found this picture:

Don't know what to make of that, seems like that Mustang could easily take on a Camaro to me..

The only thing I remember seeing on this board negative against Camaros was a quote someone had in their sig a long long time ago:
Quote:
Midgets have sex on the dashboards of Camaros

the Z28 competed against the GT, and the SS against the cobras whenever they made them.

Yeah. camaro's were normaly faster stock s stock of the same years, however, they also cost more.

As for the pic of the mustang, uhh... yah... they stopped making camaro's cause nobody was buying em.

Personally, i consider myself a car guy. i like a LOT of different cars. I cant stand when some idiot sits there and blindly bashes another manufacturer. get a life.

I dated a girl who had a 96 Camaro back in 98. Personally every time i got in it and closed the door it rattled like a trashcan. terrible ride, lousy handling, but it was pretty damn fast ill give it that.

the only thing they did right in any of the camaro's were the engine in my view. other than that, i think the cars are trashcans.

the LSx motors are the best engineered motors built to date...that kind of thing is hard to beat and ford just doesnt have what it takes to compete.

i feel sorry for ford now that the camaro is coming back out...the 05+ mustangs are overweight boats

I dunno, those camaro's are gonna cost quite a bit more than mustangs and i doubt they will be under 3800lbs.

im sorry, but a $40,000 camaro and a $30,000 loaded GT arent exactly in competition.

i had a friend who had a 98 Z28 and that was one fast beast. Other than the fastness of it though....it was a piece. Nothing was built right on that car...the interior was the same for about 10 years and it was uncomfortable. But i will say it spanked my mustang a few times.

Did they decide on the engine for the Z28?

I don't know about alot of their owners... we have one red camaro here and some old burnt out hippy that owns the video rental store drives it. My girlfriend's dad drives an 02 SS camaro drop top, dark blue. He pussies it, but even when he doesnt the acceleration is not incredibly complelling. Due to the massive weight of the vert. He often brags to me about how they had to detune the engine because it was too powerful. He then brought p how the new camaro is going to be even more powerful, and mentioned how they could put a more powerful engine in it. I told him its because they are making it weigh EVEN MORE than his car and should be upwards of 4k easily. He asked why I would ever want to put an exhaust on my car... why would Iwant people to hear me coming and how much cooler it would be to come up on a person and not have them realise you were there till you were right on top of them...? He's asked me why do I KEEP buying mustangs(this is my second, my fist being a six)? why not buy a camaro? I told him that I wanted a newer one, and for some reason I couldnt find one any newer than 02
Yeah... i have no idea where I was going with that.

As a former owner of a few Camaros (6) Yea the attitude is there for sure.Even though I own a Cobra now I still think it's sad that Ford had to resort to a S/C to get fast from the factory. The SS I had was fast as hell but like all of the later Camaro's was just boring to me.Same old blah interior and not much to really make it look different from the 100's of other Camaro's you saw everyday.I just can't stand the 95/02 body style at all anymore.

I used to like the Trans Am's too but after driving a few it had the same boring feel to it and again alway's looked like all the other's you see on the road.

That is why I'm a huge Mustang fan now. There is just so many was to make your Stang look different from any in your area. The aftermarket for the Mustang is just huge and I like the feel of them alot better.

Couldnt agree with you more. I see tons of mustangs, lots of stock ones. but the ones that have been personalized all look like one of a kind in the local area. In the entire state of colorado i have only seen one other black mustang with silver stripes. Online it isnt too uncommon, but this is a focused group who share thier passion for mustangs and that is the common factor.

out in the world though, even black Gt's with black bullets are a rare find.

I actually don't care for Camaro's too much, but I do respect them cause god knows I've got my azz handed to me by a few of them.

I look at it like everything else......yeah of course there are some jack azz Camaro owners, but it's not like there aren't jack azz mustang owners...so everything is relevant....I've actually received several compliments on the mach from Camaro owners, but when I had my 03 GT they just kind of snubbed their nose......so I asked one of my buddies, who is a Camaro owner why Camaro guys are like that towards 99-04 GT's and he said the only mustangs Camaro guys respect are Cobra's and Mach's..... He said they think GT's are weak! I just brushed it off, but then I went to a couple of GTO and Camaro forums and they seem to have that same attitude.

I know there are LOTS of GT's out there who can hand Camaro driver their azz so I don't buy into the whole attitude, but I will say Chevy made some pretty damn fast stock N/A Camaro's and GTO's.

You mean kinda like the mustang from 1994 - 2004. The mustang interiors are not exacltly spectacular.

The Fbodies stopped production becuse they did not sell the number of V6 cars that mustangs did. The Z28 has a base price very similar to a GT so there was not much $$ difference between an equally equipped car.

Mod motors respond very well to forced induction and thats why the ford GT and the Cobra get that. 600 HP is easily had on a mod motor, alls it takes is the internals to handle it and cams to help move the air. Pushrods dont respond as well as a modular motor does. Thats why chevy sticks 7 litres in their cars instead of a 5 litre thats supercharged.

Oh and to that 05+ thats got a whipple or KB on top, im sure that car has no problems sticking 450 at the wheels, so the text on the bottom is irrelevant...
