Default V6s

just wanted to point out to all the V8 owners

if it wasn't for the six bangers I highly doubt mustangs would still be in production...

6 bangers sell more the the V8s... ford attracts a larger crowd helping keep mustangs rolling off the assembly line so keep that in mind when ya start beating on the 6ers...

but 6ers are slow...

You tell um greg!

And, 6er's are slow? Tell that to teal beast. :P

And once you think about it, compared to other american V8 sports cars, GT's are fairly slow as well.

a well know point Greg has made.

there arent many (if any) AMERICAN sports cars that are as fast (and in the same class) as the V8 Stangs at near the price.

V8 Mustang, one of the best bang for the buck cars around (still)

my 2 pennies.

I totally agree greg....I don't know the exact figures and I'm too lazy to look them up, but I think v6's account for 70-75% of mustangs produced...sound about right?? I actually had two v6's....a 1996 & 2001....they were both good cars and I enjoyed them.

As for them being slow....well of course there are exceptions like Teal, but my boss bought his 16 year old daughter a 2004 v6 and I drove it home from the dealership....ha ha ha....it was like driving a lawnmower stuck in mud.

agreed but everything is relative. drive a four banger around and that six will feel fast again. Plus the engineering changes, stock for stock my 06 V6 only has 5 less horsepower than and old 5.0. And the new 3 valves are even better.

All that said, my car is still a slow 6

Putting out an affordable 6 is what killed the Firebird and the Camaro(for time being).

Yeah Mustangs are pretty slow for a 6, but you get what you pay for.

new v6s make 5les hp... but much less torque... stock 5.0L made a tad over 300ftlbs stock... and the drivetrain and sus pension is different as well...

so yah lol

to tell ya the truth... I think it'd be perty ****in sweat if shelby would build a sixxer to sit along side the GT500

Honda/Acura has 4 bangers making the same amount of HP as the V6's...lol. The s2k and RSX type s make slightly more and will run right beside a v8.

tell you the truth GTs are not that much faster, kindof like cobra owners how they talk **** about normal GTs, its all just what you get use too and what you drive. the GT pre 99's ran 15's stock. New v6's are in the 15's, 99-04 splitport v6's are in the 16s. Its not all that much of a diff. You can make anything fixed up be fast. Just dont hate on anything.

Yeah, I had a 95 v6, drove that around for a year and obviousely, it felt fast, i could beat all of the rices around... but now that I have the GT i drive the v seldomly, like last night for instance. And boy is it slow compared to the gt... which is to be expected, but being able to compare them side by side helps.

I would like to drive a GT once...but then again maybe not.

I have driven a 1993 mercury sable, an olds 88, and a 98 dodge neon. so yea, my 6er feels fast.

V6POWER!!!!!!!!!!

yes the reason why the mustang is the last ponycar to stay in production is because of the v6. the reason why the t/a and the camaro bit the dust.

Greg you have a strong point, but the 3.8 isnt that bad of an engine. The new 4.0 might even have more potential. For the extra money you pay for a gt you can buy a six slap a blower or turbo and smoke gt's right and left. Stock for stock yes the v6 will lose ford doesnt want the v6 to compete with the gt. Why do you think there is no aftermarket for the sixers?

Well yeah, ford can make the V6 as fast as it wants so long as the GT stays well ahead. ford doesnt have to worry about the new V6's competing with Older GTs... they've already sold all of those GTs, dont have to worry about losing sales lol
You get alot of respect from mustang guys by having a wicked sick v6... but from everyone else... who has no idea how much work it took... just think you have a not-so-wicked-sick GT

I respect a lot of v6 owners. I had a v6 once too. And really GT's are not all that fast. I have seen several v6's spank GT's. The skill is when you can highly tune something slower. Thats what gives the real props, for example justin from VMP, and Tim from miles per hour, Tim refuses to go t a 4v so he can show the potential of a 2v, same was as justin.

miles per hour does 4V cars too, hell they are going to be doing vipers, vettes, and possibly pushrod mustangs too.
