Keep them clean. Dont let them get crap on the rims and sit. Id suggest getting the mothers wheel buffer and cleaner. Dont use any strong cleaners on them either because they could stain.

Just use your normal chrome wax after you wash and dry them real good. The wax will get them shining very nicely, but unlike chrome polish it will not dull the surface overtime

I found the best way was to use Windex. It always gave the wheels on my old car the best shine. It never hurt the finish either.

I reccomend any kind of car wax. I use black magic or turtle wax . It's alright to use chrome polish every once in awhile, but I have seen some people that polish there chrome alot and it dulled the finish a bit supposebly polish is more abbrasive.
SAY NO TO WINDEX

Chrome is easy to clean with regular car wash soap and water. then use a towel to dry. No need for fancy cleaners. I do have the Mothers chrome polish and it works fine.
