Mach 1 chin spoiler
Hey yall, I got my chin spoiler in the mail today, and want to know how you guys let it sit out to get it back to normal. If I just leave it alone over night, with it go back to normal shape? Also, I got some of the silver bumper inserts, the cheap silver things. They arent the stainless ones, but I was wondering how you guys put them in. Did you use soap and water and such, or did you just clean the area and stick them in? Thanks for any tips.

Soap the bumper, then dry it 100%. Then apply the stickers.
dish soap removes wax coats. Spoiler let sit for awhile, it won't be warped once you go to install it. The part can easily bend, then sit out, and be installed perfectly. Its so much better to ship them in the smaller box, saves $28 on shipping (we offer customers the choice to pay more if they want to, but its entirely un-economical for an item of such a value). Use all your pop rivets and you're good to go. |
Cool man thanks for the help. Its a quarter inch hole I have to drill correct?
|
you have to drill holes for the chin spoiler?
|
Yea you have to drill the holes in the bottom of the front bumper so you have something to push the pop rivet (plastic fasteners) into.

i installed mine just having a friend hold it in place..took me maybe 5 minutes tops, i used metal screws with nuts on the other sides...dont trust plastic screws and plus, i saved time by not having to drill THEN put the screws in...just screwed them in once with the metal ones.

I think they are the Christmas tree push pins which are pretty sturdy. Either way is fine but MustangMike is right about saving time.

Good thing about the push pins is that if you hit something real hard like a curb the chin spoiler might detach and you will save you chin spoiler and bumper from ripping apart. I have rubbed against some dips and have not had it pop off with plastic pins.

yea i have just the plastic christmas trees holding mine on.. it works just fine, and i have buried that thing in the ground before...and it has never ripped off

Cool guys, it might go on tommorrow. Thanks for the help.

LOL. well its finally going on today, after what a little more than a month later. Ill try and get some pics for you.

did you line it up with the side of the bumper or the front of the bumper....
??? wondering what looks better |
I used soapy water to install the side stripes on my '71 demon 340 and it worked well, just don't work in direct sun light or have too much heat, you want to keep it wet! Yoy can squeegee the water out or let it dry. On the chin spoiler I used an awl and pushed it thru with little resistance, When you push or drive a punch/awl thru it pushes some of the metal or in this case plastic up and give you more surface area for the fastener to grip.

I lined mine up with the sides of the bumper so there is a little ridge up front. I think it looks awesome like this. Looks like it came from the factory and doesnt have the missing edges on the sides.
