Any Experience with Poorboy's Polish
 

I was polishing the stang a couple of weekends ago and I happened to try out my Poorboys polish because I had used up the last of my Meguires. Well, I polish the car and I see this horrible looking stuff on my finish like scratches and spots. Here's a pic, the part above the window was wiped off and the back is not:

So I am saying WTF? I have no clue what the hell this 'residue' is. I'm almost 100% sure I used the polish correctly. I had to get a microfiber towel and rub on it hard to get this stuff off, but the finish looks normal like it should after a polish. I could describe the feeling of rubbing it off to using a clay bar, it felt almost sticky or waxy.

Has anybody experienced this before or have any clue what it is?

What was the pre-setup for the wax?

Did you wash with Dawn or something to remove all of the built up wax and grime?

I always wash with Dawn (or anything of the kind), claybar, then wax with poorboys.

Never had a problem.

I washed it prior with Dawn, then claybar, polish and wax.

I am baffled.:confused:

So I'm not quite sure whats going on. Can it be wiped off? Like is it a residue thats dried on, or just like a grime?

The car looks perfectly clean after I wash and claybar and before I even start polishing. After the application and after the buff is when it starts showing. It's not really wipe off it's more like a thorough hand buff with a microfiber. I was pressing pretty hard to get this residue off.

Weird...did you wax your car in direct sunlight? Was the surface really HOTT when waxing?

Yeah it's gotta be coool when detailing.

But that shit looks like its rough and not smooth, like it'd stop your finger if u rubbed on it.

No, the car was polished inside my garage and the car was cool. It was maybe 75 degrees outside. The surface was not rough at all, if you ran your finger over it it would feel like someone ran a crayon or hard wax over the paint.

I love PB stuff, that's all I use.. Never seen it do anything like that. Most PB products can be applied in direct sunlight, but the surface needs to be fairly cool otherwise it won't adhere correctly. What did you wash the car with after the clay?

Poorboy's is the best I have used and all I use also. I don't like doing anything but the wash outside, the rest is done inside out of the sunlight. I washed the car with a tiny bit of dawn after the clay, it was very diluted.

There's only a few things I can think of...

* The bottle of PB polish you have is old.
* You didn't shake it up well enough.
* The polish might have been exposed to freezing temperatures, which altered its molecular structure.

I have no clue, the next time I polish I will apply everything I learned and see if it still happens. If it does I will just buy another bottle of Meguires, I still love the rest of the PB product line.

I bought it a couple of months ago so I know it wasn't old and it didn't freeze.
