Stero Power/Door Speakers

My right Door Speaker is blown and I finally got around to getting new speakers. My mechanic says I can blow these ones to if they don't get enough power or to much power.
I don't know ANYTHING about Speakers, Steros or any of that stuff.

1995 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 with the Mach 460 Sound System.
I got the KS 680 Kicker 6x8" (160x200mm)
CoaxialSpeakers . BocinasCoaxiales
Haut-ParleurCoaxiaux . Coax-Lautsprecher

Would these be okay?
$97 brand new. Is that a good deal?

Edit: I lied, I could have gotten them for around $55

I was thinking the same thing.

The problem here is this. After you do your home work (like I did not long ago) you will see that Ford out done theirself when designing the Mach sound systems. While the hardware may not be the best the design of the system makes up for it.

This is what I have found out when trying to replace MY right door speaker.

Ford used "full range" speakers in the lower doors, next to impossible to replace (by aftermarket) tweeters in the upper doors, and mid range speakers on the rear deck. All these speakers were to each fill in a certain frequency range for wich they were designed. The problem I found is I wanted to keep near factory specs and I fealt like if I got aftermarket stuff, it would throw the sound off due to getting speakers that opperated at different frequencies. IMO the stock sound system sounded great, and I didn't want to take a chance at changing it due to aftermarket speakers either over performing or under performing due to the low quallity amps that push em. Now don't get me wrong. I'm sure any difference would be really minor if I just tried to match the frequency levels and so forth when looking for speakers. But what I decided to do is just wait and build my system to work together kinda the way Ford did the Mach systems. What I ended up doing is replacing it with another stock speaker. Still sounds great now, but I have got plans to make it MUCH better.

On a side note, did you guys know that the speakers in our cars are not even hooked up in STEREO? They are all run paralell (sp I know)! I thought that was REALLY messed up for them to do such a thing!

Well I got another set of speakers that came off a V6, same here and everything of mine execpt I have the GT model. I blew those later on, didn't last no WHERE near the stock ones.
I'm not really sure how to get Stock ones, besides going to Ford and Paying out of the butt.
I don't care if the sound matches or not, as long as it doesn't have a blown speaker and rattle.
It's only the right side door speaker as well. I'm not planning to upgrade anything on mine because I don't care that much. Been going almost a year with a blown speaker, haha. Plus trying to get a new toy.

I guess I'll debate on taking them back and trying to find someone to buy my store credit or just use them. FML, but thanks for the info, now I know more then I did.
How much did you pay to get yours or did you just get one?

I looked all over ebay for the longest time and couldn't find another speaker just like mine. When I first looked I seen some 6x8 speakers that came out of an older mustang (94 or 95 I think), but before I got em I checked the part #s and it turned out to be a different speaker. That could be why your replacement didn't last too long. Anyway, I bit the bullet and went to the stealership. I paid (after taxes and shit) like 42 bucks for one speaker. But. . . . . . It was the right one and now it sounds great. I just bought that like 2 months ago too so I doubt the price has changed since then.

I'm kind of tempted to go that route now.
Only down fall is I can only get Store Credit on the ones I have now.
Maybe put it on CraigsList/Find someone to buy it. LOL

Thank you!

Do you have the Mach 460?
Is it only the door speakers?
Can you tell a difference, bad, good, eh?

Sorry for the questions, just want to make sure. I think I'm more annoyed that I could have saved $40.

BikerSk8rKid 04-25-2010 11:24 PM

So yeah I don't like them by far and throw off the sound like no other. Waste of $98. :/
Time for stock speakers. ugh
