Default GT500 Hood?

I've done assloads of searching on several Mustang forums and I have found a lot of contradictory information for my question. Hopefully, someone on here may be able to help me and give me a direct answer.

Will an OEM GT500 hood fit on my car with my stock GT front fascia?

I googled it and found out that a GT500 front will fit with a stock hood, but a GT500 hood won't fit with a stock front.

That is one of the many things I read. I'll see what the others say, too.

If that is true, that blows. I like my stock front and I'm not changing it.

I like it... on a GT500. I'm not about to put one on my car until it can run like a GT500. And even then, I still wouldn't get it. I like the current front bumper just fine. Plus, if I ever decide to supercharge one day, people will think 'oh, that's just a GT'. Heh heh heh, yeah... you go ahead and keep thinking that!

I'm not a big fan of putting parts on your vehicle if it truly isn't what you're trying to make it look like. For example why make your GT look like a Cobra? I don't have the money for a Cobra, although I'd love one, but I'm also not trying to "pose" as a Cobra. Just my two cents but I think it's silly... keep your stock hood.

It's comes down to personalization

I like the 03 cobra front and it can fit on my car it's not my fault that ford didn't put it on there in the first place

it goes the same way with changing rims you want your car to look the way you like it

I don't currently race, which is why I said if I get a supercharger. I do like to have fun with my car at my leisure and would like to get more out of the engine than what I currently have. But I don't know what path I'm going to take with it. I may just leave it alone. I really have no idea.

I've always liked the GT500 hood. To me, there is a big difference between getting maybe a front bumper from a Cobra, a spoiler, sideskirts, or something, and from getting the entire kit and making it all look like a Cobra.

I agree. I am really big on being an individual. I'm glad I have the only Mustang that looks like it does in my town. You will not see another like mine and if you know me, you can instantly tell which car is mine. That means a lot to me. My car is an extension of me and an extension of my personality. I always tell my dad that if I see another car that looks exactly like mine, it's time to change something.

True true. I don't see a hood-change as "posing" per say but... this is going to get off topic... if someone put, for example, a Cobra front-end, rear spoiler, and badges while it was simple a stock GT, I'd be against that.

Sunshine, you beat me to replying, but I couldn't agree more. I love the Cobra hoods... hope you find what you want!

I did some searching and didn't come up with anything solid. Haven't you found any other hoods you like?

Haha, damn straight! I was only thinking about it because I found one for sale for only $100 in my area. I don't really want another hood, but I figured if one of the only hoods Iike is that cheap and it will fit, why not get it?

P.S. I'm posting from my Wii! It has taken me forever to type all of this, but it is pretty ******' cool!

I haven't ever looked for one but $100 seems like a damn good price. I don't see how you could go wrong there, just test fit before paint. You could probably sell it for more than that if it doesn't fit.

Typing all that from a Wii! I don't have the patience for that.

Here's a good shot of a GT500 front end and the GTH rental car front end from Shelby's site. The GTH has the same front end as a stock gt. The GT500 grill is obviously taller so the hood looks like it will bolt on but you will have a gap between the grill and hood. Because of the tall grill, I don't see how a stock hood will fit on a GT500 front.

I've seen people put GT500 hoods on stock GTs.

Don't like the hood personally, but for $100 buy it and try it out!!

It was someone who I guess had a GT500 and got a shitload of aftermarket parts and was selling them for cheap as hell. Too bad he didn't have an entire motor!

And yes, I typed all that from a Wii. God, it sucked, but it was cool. Now I don't have to boot up my computer when I get home. By the time my computer gets to the password screen, my Wii is already on the internet and ready to go.

Makes sense. Thank you for those pictures.

I thought I had seen it before, too, but I didn't know if they did any modifications to make it fit.

I'm not going to get it. After all this confusion, it wouldn't be worth it to me if it didn't fit. Not to mention that I can find better things to spend $100 on.
