CD player problem

Hey,
I have a 2001 mustang cobra and the CD player will not eject the CDs. It remains open and the CD wont come out, too far in there to pull it out. I have had to use a tooth pick almost all the time now just to nudge 'em out but, now it wont come out at all.
Should I replace it, or is this common (it is almost 9 years old now)

Thanks,

pretty common i guess, mine does the same thing, idk now if theres a way to fix it or not im just planning on gettin a new head unit soon

it's common. Maybe pick up a small set of tweezers for CD extraction, lol. I know it's super lame, I can't wait to get a new cd unit that will eject when I want it to. I usually use one cd to encourage the old one to come out.

yea, well this problem will amplify if u put a cd in upside down. because it will for sure get stuck worse... basically tweeze it out and get a new HU. they do that over time.

Thanks for the help, well not really help, but sympathy. At least I am not the first guy. Any suggestions for a new head unit? I was thinking something that could read off USB sticks and has a AUX in.

This.

I have it, I love it. It's double-din so you'd need to get a double-din center console cover, but that's not too bad.

Mine started doing it after it was 3 years old. You just tap on the CD player while its ejecting and they almost always come out.

What Spike said. Mine did it a few days ago. Just made a clicking sounds and wouldnt switch cd's. I "tapped" on the head unit and fixed it lol.

i used to use an old credit card to bring em out, then i finally replaced the damn thing. also i noticed that it would get stuck more often on cds that have a label put on it, like those custom labels you can print out. I dont use those anymore. just fyi

I don't know how some of you guys have the patience to just 'tap' on the head unit if your CD doesn't come out. I'd just get tired of it, rip it out, and run it over... which is what I'm about to do to my Shaker500. It is an awesome radio with awesome sound, but it screws up on me all the time. So it's not just your radios. Mine gives me shit, too.

buy a sterio with a USB hook up and never touch a cd again.
