HID Color Opinion?

I've been missing the low beam headlight on my bike since I got it. I just now got the time to get to it. Then I came across that I can't just put in the standard bulb for the head light, after I already bought the bulb (H7). The guy who had my bike had HID for the low beam and took it out when he sold it. I don't blame him, they're by far not cheap.

Question: I can't decide what I want to go with and I need opinions.
These are the two I like

8000K
http://www.hidconcept.com/N.Ebay/lig.../light8K-L.jpg

12000K
http://www.hidconcept.com/N.Ebay/lig...light12K-L.jpg

Are they legal too? Because I don't want cops after me on my bike.
Any other color you like feel free to post.

Thank you guys!

Edit: I went to check out the bike some more, looked around and found the plug in for the old H7 light, so I was like yay I'm good for now. But then I put it together and the light isn't coming on, I yet can't find out why. I looked on the side where there is a BUNCH OF WIRES. There is a blue wire that goes into the housing of the lights, well the blue wire is cut off.

get like 4300k...thats pure with and the brightest. i plan on getting hi/lo HID for my bike cause you cant ever not have enough to be seen/safe.

do you ride at night? if not then i would suggust just leaving it and just use your highbeams at all times...thats what i do now..even at night lol.

WNRacing 05-24-2009 07:05 PM

6k or nothing.

4300 is too normal for me, 6k is super white with just a very slight tint of blue.

Black Sunshine 05-24-2009 07:14 PM

If you get purple lights, you deserve to be shot.

I passed a riced-out Cavalier during the day on the way home a few days ago, and it had purple lights... and I mean purple. They not only looked stupid as hell, they were extremely painful to look at. I had to turn my head because they made my eyes hurt so bad.

When I get HID's, I'm going 6K. I don't like the 8K, too blue for my tastes.

Dave04Mustang 05-24-2009 08:00 PM

4300-8000. Nothing lower, nothing nigher

Technically (at least here in TN) the only HID's that are legal are stock unit's installed by the manufacturer, but I don't think that police really hassle anyone unless they are 55w.

Things that you need to remember.

55w HID's = NO, unless you only use them off road. Stick with 35w for any on-road application.

4300k = Brightest lumen output available, they're also basically just white and boring.

6000k = Extremely white with a very slight tint of blue. This is also the next brightest HID temp. Best Temp. available if you ask me.

8000k = Pretty blue, too blue IMHO.

Remember, any blue lights on a vehicle can technically be illegal.

The point of HID's is to enhance visibility, not look pretty. Therefore JDM 3000k is dumb and anything above 8000k is the same.

Check out sharphid.com, pretty reasonable prices and decent customer service.

Do you have any pictures of the one on your car WNRacing? See I would just get the white with semi blue, but seems to plain to me. Not really worried about the lighting, if so I have highbeams which are HELLA bright.

Sorry if I'm to complicated. I've seen purple before Sunshine, but they weren't that bright at all and I staired at them.

Oh here is some pictures on the HID, which I hope I get the right bulbs. I think they're D2S D2R Bulbs. If I'm correct, they're either Acura, Honda or Mazada HID's. LoL

What do you think of the picture quality to? It's my new phone, the first three pictures were taking from my phone.

These are the high beams, which I can't keep using and being chase by the cops. HAHA

Just a picture of my bike, dealer picture.

Edit: I would just hook up the regular stock light, but I ca't seem to find out why it's not coming on. because the bulb is in there and it's all plugged in, but wont turn on. I wish I had a manual.

Would be a lot cheaper then spending like what almost $100 for a HID bulb?

BikerSk8rKid 05-24-2009 11:13 PM

So I went for a joy ride, then to the skate part and just drove around for awhile in the Mustang.

I saw a few cars with blue lights and I liked them. Staring at all the other white cars is just to plain and normal.

I did see a car that I liked, well the lights. From a distance they were purple (not really easy to see) until you got up close. Same with blue ones too.

Then I saw another car with pure purple lights and it wasn't that bad and not even that bright. But it's still hard to judge by pictures. :( lOl thanks everyone for there replys, keep em coming if you want. I'm going to figure out how to fix the stock light. :/

BikerSk8rKid 05-25-2009 12:13 AM

Seriously why the fuck did this person cut the wire? I have no clue how to fix this, but I kind of wish I didn't take the head unit off. Hell I don't even know how the hell this guy got the HID to fit in the socket. :/ Well it sits in there snug tight, but I don't know about this. LoL people are strange. LOL Sorry I'm just ranting.

Teufelshunde3/5 05-25-2009 11:39 AM

Sucks that the guy cut the wire & didn't bother to hook the stock light back up before selling it.

Question for those of you who already have HID lights, especially the higher temp blue/purple colors. Do you have any problems with visability from them in foggy conditions? I read somewhere that the blue/purple light has a tendancy to reflect off the fog a bit and make seeing difficult, similar to if you had the high beams on. Is that true?

Yeah you'd think they would or at least keep the bulb in, but no he had to screw me over both ways. Hell I got the best dead on it, so it's all good I guess. I'm just going to get a HID light, when I decide what I want.

Your question I can't really answer, but what I would do is. Have a set for your regular lights with HID and then your High Beams just use your standard ones or get HID bright ones.

Pretty much the same thing the guy did on my bike, because he only put in a HID kit for the main light that's on 24/7 and then the high beams are hell freaking bright, but stock/standard. So pretty much if I have HID that suck for night/fog/dark or whatever, I can use my High Beams. If that made sense. LOL I tried.

How would you know that? I need to get ahold of that guy some how, because I have a lot of questions on stuff I need to know.

The back tire he got is a pieace of shit and not great for anything.

I've decide to go with the 8k HID and if I don't like them I'm going to return them for the 6k. Unless this company doesn't sell them in single packs. Since I only need one.

That's what I was thinking too, but it's hard to say. The guy who owned it sold it to Hillsboro Motor Sports and then I bought it off them. Either way that back tire is a pieace of shit and it's been laid down.

mustangV6_04 05-25-2009 01:23 PM

well food for though there is almost no used bikes that have not been laid down. If you ride you are gonna go down eventually but to what extent is what matters.

Here is the specs on when he laid it down
Scratches here and there, but not that bad, can be touched up easly.
Missing left mirror.
Dent on the left side gas tank, but not that noticeable unless you ACTUALLY LOOK.
Missing low beam HID light or even stock light
Cut the low beam wire
Missing Manual, but came with a little tool kit.

But what he did was got aftermarket blinkers because the stock ones stick out like a mile, haha. He also stripped the decals. Got a HID kit, but it's funny because it's Acura, Honda or Mazada kit. HAHA. That I can't think of, there might be more he added and there is some new stuff on the bike.

Paid $4,000 and it only had 9k miles on it. I think it retails for around $7k

I just ordered a left mirror, clutch lever and 8k HID for about $60.63. I just hope the HID light I bought is legit and is the one I like, if not I'm going to exchange it for the 6k or lower.

Edit: Missing Manual, but came with a little tool kit.

yup.

Dave04Mustang 05-25-2009 03:48 PM

umm the blue wire is usually your brights if I recall. I don't really feel like going outside to check but on the Mustang I'm almost positive the blue wire is for brights.... mines cut/not connected because i have a single beam HID kit

I'm talking about on my Motorcycle, not my car. :/ My high beams work just fine, just not the low beam/stock/standard light. I already oreded me a HID light, under $30 or so.

It sucks, I lost two pieces while taking the bike apart. :/

They might not be bright to you, but they were damn sure bright to me. I have incredibly sensitive eyes. I fucking hate fast blinking lights like strobe lights or police lights. I also can't stand the way light comes through the trees when you're driving past them. It's literally painful to me and gives me a headache throughout the back of my head. The brighter the light, the worse it is.

The lights I saw were extremely purple. I'd say they were 30K, like the very last ones in the picture that Zig posted.

Let me guess, you have either blue or extreemly light colored eyes. I have the same problem. I did some research and it's been proven that people with light colored eyes are more sensitive to light.

Nope. You're wrong with that guess. My eyes are brown. :)

The ones I saw were brighter/darker then the purple one I posted. I don't mind the light, but I do hate the light. I love the darkness, I love dark all around. It's like a mixature with me. When I went to Califnoria last Summer, about half way there durning the night the lights started to bug me. but then again 17 hours on no sleep, I think I was just trying to make my self go to sleep. HAHA which I ended up doing. :/

Mine are Hazel. :/

Brown just means you're full of shit, my point is proven. ;)
:P

Edit: but anyways I orded the 8000k ones the other day, already shipped and should be on there way. The only thing is, the ones that Zig posted aren't the right ones for my set up on my Motorcycle. Anyways, if they're to bright and not what I like I'm going to go down a level. Which will be mainly white and blue at like a angle. I'll ask for your opinion when I get them., ;)

spike_africa 05-27-2009 09:04 AM

Please don't do either one as they are both really gross. 6k would be the highest I would ever go on anything.

I would, but I don't like the fact of EVERYONE (almost) having standard white lights or not even standard, but they're white. It kind of gross's me out and just boring. Not really wanting to stick out, but just a change. It's cool to see a bunch of white lights at night, then here and there a different color. But who knows I might even go with the 6k if I don't like the 8k.

Edit: I'll post pictures so everyone can see, because what Zig posted are totaly different color lights and what not compared to the style I got.

spike_africa 05-27-2009 09:21 PM

Everyone has yellow halogen lights. You don't see many with HIDs anyhow.

I've never seen yello or anything. Mine are, I don't even know what kind of brand they are. All I know is the ones that ZIG posted will not work. :/ Guess we'll find out tomarrow.
