How to keep your front end clean?

So i notice everyones front bumper looks allot cleaner/smoother than mine. Im kinda wonderin why, cause even when i scrub hard i cant get mine to look that nice. What do you guys use to keep your front end clean and bug free besides wax and good ole soap?

Switch 04-02-2009 05:44 PM

Becka 04-02-2009 10:02 PM

no matter what you do to the front end of your car, at some point its not going to look extremely great because bugs, rocks and etc. will make it look warn. Also in pictures of cars they can be altered to make them look better than what they really are(no offense) but its true.

Hey! You're back. We all had that you had left for good.

Your bumper is probably screwed from the bra you had on it forever.

? Why did you think she left?

She hasn't been on for a little bit. And rarely do any women stay around this place...mustangrn, blacksunshine, and layla are the only ones at the moment.

clay bar works, and so does bug remover but that is bad if you dont wash your car and wax it.

step 1: i take my car through a drive in washing bay where you get teh wand and the brush and i use the supper sudsy light spray feature and let it sit for about 2-3 mins and then i use the high pressure sudsy spray. then i high pressure rinse and all the grime and bugs on my front bumper and behind my wheels are gone.

step 2: i go home and wash my car by hand to get the little crevices that are hard to get.

step 3: since the soap that the washing places use are super bad for you wax, i clay bar my whole car and the whole nine yards (wax, sealing, paint cleaner, buffing, etc)

i do this at least 3 times per summer, and once, maybe twice, during the winter if i drive it at all.

if i had access to a high pressure gun that can mix water, it would save me money going to the washing bays.

That silver one in your picture of the cars you used for example is Donnie's ( slither ) and that thing is painted almost every 6months and was painted most recently...

i dont use the brush. i never said i did lol. i just use the wand and thats it. the brush is too harsh on the paint and it will cause swirls...i already have enough of them as it it...i need to buff it again.

DD- Are those love bugs? Do you even have them in Tejas? Regardless of what kind of bugs they are, you gotta get 'em off of there. Your best defense is not after the fact, but rather beforehand. Clay bar it, hit it with some light rubbing compound, or whatever, but once your satisfied with it- or realize it looks as good as it's going to, then polish the hell out of it, and then give it a few good coats of wax.

That will help in removing them later on, but either way, if the bugs are left there for any amount of time, it's just a matter of time before your paint looks like shit.

King 04-04-2009 06:30 PM

When bugs have been on a vehicle after a prolonged amount of time, I'd use goo-gone. Worked on my parents Chevy Colorado after going 15 months without being cleaned.

j_gutta870 04-04-2009 06:59 PM

good tips....... mothers a good brand for clay bar?

tristang 04-07-2009 09:59 PM

ive gone with the miquires clay...

spike_africa 04-08-2009 06:33 AM

Only thing you can do is wash your car more often to keep the bugs off. No wax or sealant is gonna keep them from being on the front. Just have to wash the car more often if it bothers you how fast the front of the car gets covered in them.

Stephen4036 04-08-2009 07:19 AM

Wash to help protect.. I go on the toll road on tu/th's and i also get home and spray quick detailer which eats the bug gunk right up then i wipe it off...

frozen 04-08-2009 01:47 PM

well besides not driving it, you could put on a clear cover for the front
