Automatic Over Drive

Well I was at Hooters!

Deathdiesel 03-17-2009 09:58 AM

Lol hell yea hooters got some nice chicken! :P Anyways, how much did your kit cost? Mine was about 70 but i didnt get that nice lookin leather. :(

krazypony 03-17-2009 10:01 AM

I think I paid between $35-40 for the black shifter knob and like $15 for the leather boot. I found a guy a ebay that makes them for shifters with all colors of thread for stitching and so fourth...

And like $20 at Radio Shack for the wire, sodder, push button, flex, sodder

Deathdiesel 03-17-2009 10:05 AM

Im guessing AOD sucks up a good amount more of gas though, im kinda confused how that works, mind explainin?
Also whered you get the boot, like what keywords did you look up?

Lazerred6 03-17-2009 10:32 AM

what the button does is put you in a lower gear than you would normally be in it does nothing at wide open throttle but if you are cruising and hit the aod button it will drop a gear and put you at higher rpms.

Deathdiesel 03-17-2009 10:37 AM

Ah, so its basically same thing except a little diff. So does anyone have any idea why it wont shift with the new or stock knob?

Slim03GT 03-17-2009 10:52 AM

If you are having trouble getting it in and out of gear then I would take it to the shop. You've already spent a couple days on it and since its still not working....that might be your best bet.

Krazy....check your PM's!

Deathdiesel 03-17-2009 10:53 AM

Yea, i just hope a ford dealership will actually work on it. They might just say somethin like oh we cant because its not stock parts or etc.

Deathdiesel 03-18-2009 11:16 AM

I think i might have finally figured out why it wont shift! I think maybe the spring is too long, which would explain why it would only shift into certain gears, becase on 1st gear and park it requires more pressure, which can only be pushed down further if the button will go in further. Aaannd guess what, it didnt work....I tried it without the spring so fuck it im takin it into the shop tommorow...

krazypony 03-19-2009 09:58 AM

the spring has to be in there to help apply pressure to the shifter to move from gear to gear...

I think your missing something when you disassembled the shifter and didnt put it back togethor with the THandle!

Deathdiesel 03-19-2009 10:36 AM

Idk, either way its in the shop now, and if they cant figure it out then idk..
