Volume issues

Does anyone else have this problem with an aftermarket head unit and amp where you have to turn the volume up really high to hear the music at a reasonable level? I don't have any Mach equipment in the car and I'm running a Kenwood DVD head unit, component speakers up front, 5x8s in the rear and the speakers are running through an amp? Any ideas?

Maybe try turning up the gain adjustment on the amp(if there is one). I just finished installing an amp running components up front also, with the stock mach in the back. If you have a gain adj turn the volume to about 3/4 of the max, then slowly turn the adj up until the sound starts to distort, then back off a little bit. Give it a shot, also check your connections and make sure the +/- are consistent with each speaker.

It may just be that different head units have different ways of adjusting the volume. I had a Pioneer unit once that needed to be turned up to ~25 to be the same volume as 4-5 bars on the stock Mach 460 unit that I have now.

The amp and everything is all adjusted. I guess it's just the head unit and I'll have to deal with turning the volume way up
