Default Angel Eyes w/HID KIT or Headlights with HID.

Hey guys,

I have a yellow 95 5.0 and I was wondering on the best options on headlights. I hear that you cannot throw a HID kit on the Angel Eye Projectors, so what are my best options? Thanks in advance.

That's pretty much correct, the low beam "projector" in the dual halo angel eyes is a POS and I don't think you could replace it without some serious modification to the housing itself. When I had my angel eyes in the '98 I angled the lights down and ran high beams with silverstars because the "projectors" sucked so bad.

My personal opinion after screwing around with several different types of housings is to invest in a good housing from Blue Oval Industries or some other reputable supplier of aftermarket parts, maybe even just look into some OEM clear Cobra housings then go with a good dual beam 6-10,000k HID.

If you go with a cheap-o eBay housing or some of the ones (especially for 94-98's) that AM or other sites sell then you will spend a lot of time and effort sealing the housings because they will let moisture in and ruin the plastic and probably eventually destroy the HID with condensation.

Hopefully this helps, let us know if you have any other questions. Good luck!

This should give you a good Idea of what I'm trying to explain.

The "low beam" is nothing more than a weak ass halogen bulb, even lower standard than what Ford put in as OEM. What's better is that the bulb is sealed in and you can't even get to it, so if it were to go out you couldn't even replace it.

The "Projectors"

The "High Beam" Silverstars. As you can see, there is a huge difference.

If they were better quality I would definitely recommend them, because they look killer, but because of the poor craftsmanship I can't justify wasting the money on them.

Thanks for the reply WN. So you suggest getting something like this and then get an HID kit like one of these? http://www.americanmuscle.com/hid.html . This angel eye setup appears to be easy to replace bulbs http://www.americanmuscle.com/94-98-...ors-black.html , It says on AM HID kits are not to be used, is that because they would become too bright, as is it even possible? Thank you.

That is a great deal on the Cobra Lenses and they look awesome. Just get some clear or OEM cobra corners and you'd be set. And yes, those AM HID's are pretty nice.

As far as the HID's "being too bright" in the angel eyes, that would be kind of fishy to me. Personally I'd give up the idea of the Angel eyes, trust me, they're not worth the trouble and honestly they just don't look all that great in broad daylight. Not to mention the fitment issues that you will run into trying to fit one piece into two slots.. It's kind of like putting a square peg into a round hole. The "high beam" is very easy to change because it's nothing more than a 9004? bulb I believe, but the actual "projector" is like a sealed beam halogen headlamp that has been shoved into the housing and as far as I know can't be removed/ replaced.

Here's a little inspiration!...

If you're not already a member, you might wanna head on over to www.SN95forums.com and join the forum. They have a ton 94-98's and people with a lot of advice and knowledge willing to share. Fell free to list me as a referance.

be careful of that company Blue oval Ind., I searched them on ebay and they have some deals that have gone BAD from the user comments, I know not all feedback from there are always good. But they seem'd to have some bad feedback from there customer service.

I've never seen anything bad or heard any bad feedback from anyone about BOI?. Maybe their stuff on eBay is scratch & dent? I don't know, I've never searched for anything from them on eBay. They seem to have a good return policy as well.

As far as the HID kit, I'd probably just go with the kit from AM. They seem to have good customer service, especially with HID's. I've heard of them replacing a balast or two for customers in the past, so they take are of their customers.

If you are indeed going to go with the Cobra headlights, I'd get a matching set of side markers as well. They will help complete the look of the headlights. BOI has a great price on these as well.

Anytime that you are going to purchase headlights or tail lights you should consider doing this. The oven trick never worked for me, but the silicone definitely does. This step will help ensure the longevity of the housings and especially the Bulbs. Moisture + bulb = bad! lol
