These links saved my paint job!!! I was fired up when I stopped and checked on my car after having the spoiler installed and noticed the car had been sitting in the sun with buffing compound all over it! The only part that was cleaned off was the spoiler but the rest of the car had what appeared to be buffing particles all over it. Later when I picked up the car they did wash it all off but the paint still felt rough... gritty. I washed it a few times and even used my power buffer on it when I took the pictures you'll see posted on this site. Although the paint looked good it was still gritty to the touch... I thought I'd have to have it professionally done... until recently. I went to the links posted here and learned a few things about compounds, applications and even some basics about car washing. Man, I’ve been doing it all wrong for years… I did always use real car wash though, but my materials and application were all wrong.

Car use history… it’s garaged, always… at home and at work. It never sees the rain unless I’m caught driving in it. I washed it whenever it started looking dirty… sometimes this could take a month.

So now I'm a believer! I washed the car this morning (it was very cloudy out = no sun, cool car), had both a wash and rinse bucket... dried the car, then clay bar’ed the entire thing.... I sprayed, clayed and wiped off the excess as I moved around the car. I then rewashed the car and dried it completely once more. WOW the grit is GONE!!! The car is as smooth as it was the day I brought it home. I didn't use a polish to help get rid of the beginnings of the cobweb effect, but I will next time. I have just completed waxing it with NXT and it's sitting in my garage for the night. I will put another coat of NXT on it in the morning and then detail the inside for the car show this Saturday.

I'm so relieved and amazed how the car came out! I can't thank you guys enough for posting this info...

Have you guys ever used the Mr. Clean car wash system…? I was using it before, it worked great; however, now that I’ve learned a good system that works wonders, I’ll stay with it. My local auto parts store doesn’t carry the rag top cleaner/protector – anybody use this stuff? Like it? I might have to order it off the Internet – I couldn’t even find the OXO scrub brush which is suppose to be safe on the canvas.

I usually wipe my car down every evening with Speed Shine from Groits Garage.Every morning it looks like I just waxed it.I use the NXT too,it works well with the speed shine.
Always dry it off after washing.It will take off any dirt left behind and no water spots.The guys at the body shop that painted my spoiler could'nt believe how new my paint looked.

The first step in cleaning your engine is to remove the excess debris that gets trapped in your hood, grille and vent openings. This is particularly true if you live in an area with four seasons. If you have compressed air available, this is the best way to remove old leaves, dead cats and such. If you don't, a simple hand brush will suffice.
