best drying method

Am I the only one who has thought of this? I get some strange looks but...I use an electric leaf blower to dry my car. It's quick and it gets the water out of the nooks and crannys so they don't run later. Give it a try! BTW, I wouldn't use a gas one because I think the motor exhaust comes thru with the airstream carrying unburned fuel and oil.

No, you arent the only one who thought/ does this.

zigzagg321 03-15-2008 03:12 PM

lol...a leaf blower will blow small grains of sand/dust...etc. at your car's paint at 130mph.

Well..usually when you detail(or wash) your car, you do it on a driveway, that is atleast marginally clean...after you wash the car you just take the leaf blower and point at it and get the water out of the hard to reach areas, usually pointing it downwards..so the chances of dirt or anything flying at your paint isn't really that great.

I live right next the the beach I would be sand blasting my paint right off my car If I used my leaf blower.

Steeda97 03-16-2008 08:45 AM

I think this has been covered before :-P. But after im done washing the car, i use free flowing water from the roof down. Then i use an electric leaf blower to get the hard spots (trunk lid, hood scoop, door jams) etc. Then the remaining water i use a Waffle Weave MF towel.

Works perfect.

This is what I do, after I finish hosing off all of the soap, I throw some sawdust on the car to absorb all of the water, then I take a huge rag and wipe all of it off. If the sawdust gets into a hard to reach area I simply Take a vaccum to suck all of it up.

Works perfect.

You put sawdust on your car.

oreospike 03-16-2008 09:29 AM

You're not gonna blow any particulates on you're paint as long as you don't let any get into the suction of the blower.

I never bother with the cloth, the blower does the whole job pretty fast. But, I live in Denver and it's pretty dry here so maybe that helps.

Air compressor to get water out of hoodscoop or cracks. Then rubber blade to get rid of most water and a microfiber towel to get rid of and left over in spots i cant reach

01FR500 03-25-2008 09:20 PM

I use an air compressor, better than your weak leaf blowers lol. Sawdust > compressed air > leaf blower haha.

spike_africa 03-26-2008 06:34 AM

I use the good old absorber and then fallow up with waffle weave mf towel.

Crimsonred02 03-26-2008 07:28 AM

sqeeeegeeeeeee

01FR500 03-26-2008 09:24 AM

I need to get one of these waffle weave MF towels, sounds good. I use a terry cloth towel for water left over from blowing the water off. I have one of thoes water blades squeeges but I only use it on glass. I don't like something solid rubbing over my paint for some reason.

crignaj 04-03-2008 01:21 PM

Leaf blower, damn I never thought of that .

Dream 04-03-2008 07:33 PM

shower towel............? gawd dammit i hate being middle classed!

nyheyman 04-06-2008 08:13 PM

I'll try the air compressor
