Interior paint

When you paint the interior of your car (ex. door panels, center counsel) will the paint wear/rub off?

i've actually heard good things about the new duplicolor interior paint (good on vinyl, door panels, dash boards, they even advertise carpet...but i wouldn't push it). check out some videos (i think youtube actually has some), and maybe their website. i've never tried it personally, but i know a friend who did and it turned out great.

is it garage kept? do you live in the south? the only concerns i might have are if the heat would make it tacky...

i'd recommend going to a salvage yard and practicing on a a random door panel to see how it turns out. the regular paint is flat, but you can get a gloss enamel too.

I did the inside of my sixer...looks really good but some stuff is rubbing off and some bubbled from me not cleaning it good enough...my word of advise would be to make sure you clean each and every part that you paint very well. They have a special cleaner that you use but I can't remember the name....ask a body shop, they should know. And wait for the paint to fully dry be4 applying coats. I noticed that the paint came off the steering wheel and the door knobs first

a good thing to keep in mind...

if spraying interior panels, try to pick ones that you won't be making much contact with. instead of the rim of the steering wheel...maybe the center peice, instead of the door knob...maybe the door knob bezel, instead of the door/window control buttons...maybe the button bezel, etc. The more you touch it, the more it will fade/chip (and if it's a light color...esp white [which looks really good on a black interior] it'll get dirty FAST)

I'd suggest NOT painting the center of the steering wheel...It looks horrid

i have a silver 01 gt and the person that owned it before me painted some of the interior silver he did the window switch bezels the defrost vents and the center bezel that goes around the control switches and what not! it looks good for what i think he did on his own, it is starting to fade around the handles and a few other random spots i dont know how long ago they did it but i recently went to a customization shop and they said they could paint it with car paint and clearcoat it all for about $150 maybe a little cheaper i also saw a 02 fire engine red cobra witht the mustang on the passenger side dash painted red to match the car that IMO looked pretty bad ass!
