Default Electrical HELP!!!

ok, here's the setup. 2003 v6 5speed. i have OE foglights w/55w bulbs, and 2 sony P5 subs; max pwr 1100w, pushed by a sony 1200w amp, along w/a 1 farad cap. from walmart (cheap-o)

here's the problem. when i'm at an idle my subs won't work. they have power, they have an input. they won't work.

tonight when i was coming home from walmart i was idling down my road in 2nd gear. (idle: lil above 500 rpms) there was no bass coming from them until i revved it up to right around 1000 rpms. when i got home i let it idle, w/my headlights and fog lights on. (they were on when i was driving home too) checked the cap. it said i had 12.44 amps to the amp. when i turn the headlights off the subs would "activate" sound would come from them. OR if i revved up to more then 1000 rpms, they'd kick on.

wtf is wrong w/it? i have a optima yellow top deep cycle battery in the car, so it's not like it's a bad battery. any input would help greatly!!! thx guys!

Is everything wired correctly?.. And did you get an amp wiring kit capable of your amps output?

what's the wattage on the amp? i need RMS and Peak power. what class is it.

also, it sounds like your alternator is either bad or going bad. if the alternator isn't putting out enough power to the battery, to provide power for the subs, and all the accessories are running (headlights, radio, fogs, amp, etc) then that could be your problem.

i'd go to the parts store and have your alternator tested with a load on, and with a load off.

load on means with everything on, fogs, wipers, defrost, radio etc.

load off means shut everything off, but start the car.

You mean volts not amps which is really low if the car is on. You should be in the 13s with all accessories on. Your alt could be bad or cant supply enough power and you need an upgrade.

This place has some cool looking alternators if yours is bad or you decide to upgrade.
