question about sunburn

My original clearcoat is coming off of the fin on my 89 LX hatchback. Its only in the dip not on the sides. Is there anything to make this flaking stuff come off. The paint underneath is fine. Or at least something to hide it better. I don't think its worth it to repaint it. By the way its black.

Owning a black car myself, I can tell you that no amount or quality of wax is going to help. Black just magnifies any TINY imperfections, let alone missing clearcoat. I would say a repaint is in your future. IMO, there isn't anything you can do. You could peel all the flakes off and throw some good wax on, but you'll just get more flaking. Not having clearcoat on it will make the paint fade pretty fast.

How does the rest of the paint look? Would getting only the spoiler painted stand out like a sore thumb?

Take the spoiler off and throw a 4" cowl hood on it. :headbang:

Try to keep it under the shade.

i say for that sunburn, get some aloe-vera and use spf-80 that should do the trick. J/K, go to a body shop and ask about some clear coat fix. Most body shops can direct you on how to fix this and make it look decent.
