i used to work in a body shop and probably nearly half of the cost for the paint job is the labor on taking the car apart for paint. u can probably save a grand on the total cost if u take it apart urself. ill need a paint job on mine later on to fix some small imperfections that id like to take care of along with needing a new front bumer. i have a few dimples in it from the previous owner. if ur up to the task id do that to save some cash. take front and rear bumpers off, spoiler, headlights/taillights, third brake light, side view mirrors, belt moldings, emblems, door handles, door/trunk locks....seems like alot of crap to do but thats what ya need to do to get a good paint job. they normally paint the bumpers and door handles separate from the rest of the car. around here most paint shops charge 3k-5k for a basic two stage paint job. when i get mine painted it all they will have to do is prep it and shoot color on it.

depending where ya go maybe 300-400 bucks...its hard to say. every shop is different in thier costs. what i would do is get a buddy help u test fit the hood before its painted..make sure u can align it juss right then take it back off and just bring it to get painted. after its done put it back on...make sure have an extra set of hands..thats a must.

i paid 1400 for my stage 3 roush bumper and cobra R hood to be prepped and paint matched to the fenders.
maybe that will give you a idea of what to pay. labor is expensive!!! BTW there is no aligning these hoods you have to line the fenders to the hood. my hood had no play in it at all, i had to elongate the holes on the brackets to get the hood to bolt on. other then that install is dummy proof u just need 2 people. |
